Removal of Opterons from retail channel? Possible reason.

Over at ocforums.com Tankguys have posted up a thread which made mention of whispers they are hearing of Opterons (single core at least) being removed from the retail channel. This might appear illogical however it may not be if the information in this link proves to be true........

If Dell starts selling AMD doesn't mean that Single core opterons will last... Single Core is in it's death bed and will be elimated in the next socket.. I see no single cores in the future outside of antiques and Ultra budget boards... Your statement is illogical
Fast computers breed slow, lazy programmers
The price of reliability is the pursuit of the utmost simplicity. It is a price which the very rich find most hard to pay.

No single core will be eliminated when multithreaded programs become standard.

Must be something faulty in your reading comprehension - I said single cores AT LEAST. This being an explanation as to why they might be removed from retail channels - whats illogical about it?

    it makes sense to me.

i believe it was only the 144-148 that's being discussed too... which doesn't really make sense, why no dual cores?
