    Isn't the FX-53 unlocked?

They are both about the same price anyway, so I would go for the FX.

id take the san diego. the 53 is the clawhammer core, so it will go to 2.6 on air, and not much higher.

Yea, for $222 you can get an opteron 148 from newegg that has a great chance of getting to 3.0ghz on air or water. The fx-53 has 0 chance of getting there short of phase change.

I'd go for the opty or the SD. I had an FX-53 and the max it would was 2.6 with an xp-90. Just about any newer core could do that in it's sleep.
