DF NF4 USB issues ( Razer Copperhead )

I've read the debugging faq. I've tried all the 5.x and 6.x and 7.x series Bioses.

I still have the following problem:

my Razer CopperHead mouse will sometimes be detected and works.

Sometimes it's detected, but won't work at all (i.e. lights light up, it's detected NOT as HID device, but as USB Composite device, and won't work as a mouse).

This seems to be an on/off deal: sometimes it works after thoroughly cleaning the system of all driver remnants, but stops working after installing the Razer 6.08 (correct) drivers.

I've debugged this to the max and contacted the tech support (useless they are).

Does anybody else have Razer Copperhead working ok on their DFI NF4 motherboard (yes, I've tried all ports and hot-plugging after boot too)?

Diamondback works on DFI NF4 ok, but Copperhead seems to be really pesky.

    Any tips?

    regards,
    halcyon

Maybe it's an issue with the board/mouse beeing within USB power specifications. At work we have some headsets w/ buildt in soundcards that draw max current through the USB ports, and it won't always detect properly on some laptops.

The Diamondbacks had similar problems too, this was to do with power (ie: they needed too much). It was fixable by using a powered usb hub.

You might wanna try updating the Copperhead's firmware though first, I believe Razor ironed out a fair few bugs (or so I read).

Edit: In case your wondering, just pulled this from Razor's website:

"Q. How do I update the Copperhead firmware?

    A. To update the firmware, please install the latest driver first. After installation, open the Configurator and press the question mark button on the top right hand corner to activate the help function. Under the help screen, click on Updating the Firmware of your Razer Copperhead. This will give you detailed instructions on how to update the firmware for your mouse. Please note that the default directory in which the new firmware can be found is C:\Program Files\Razer\Copperhead\Firmware."

I can't update the firmware, because my computer won't properly find the mouse, if I install the CH drivers.

    Silly, isn't it

Also, I've tried it in several powered USB hubs, with even worse results.

In my experience it's better off plugged straight to mb ports and hopefully as the only device. Then, and ONLY then, might it work occasionally.

If I weren't thinking of taking this back, I'd open this up and remove the silly bling-bling leds to at least cut down some of that power use minimally.

They really ought to have tested this mouse for compatibility better before they shipped it

I've got it and after updating to the latest drivers and firmware on the Razer site, I've had zero issues. Before the latest firmware, the system would not detect it once in a while, but since the update, it's all better. Maybe update it from a different computer, then try it on the DFI.
