i was wondering if you could crunch on a xbox.
becuase i have a chipped xbox is there any way of running the d2ol client on it?
I think there was talk about trying to get the D2OL client on an Xbox 360 but I dont know about a regular xbox.
well i researched a bit and i think u can run a version of linux on a modified xbox but im not sure if there is a d2ol client for linux?
(btw i dont know anything about linux)
It's been done. I just don't remember the site at the mo.
google it i'd say. It was a cluster of normal Xbox's.
It can be done, but they said it wasn't actually worth it.
If there is a Linux for the Xbox 360, this would be worth it. Btw, running Linux and D2OL on any next-gen consoles should result in a lot of candidates.
i'd imagine xbox 2 would be pro for crunching...with all those terraflop capabilities.. heh. but i'm probably wrong...specs are misleading...according to the specs i read...P23 is better than Xbox2...which i refuse to believe.
Here is a linux version of D2OL: http://www.d2ol.com/dOL/download_instructions.html. There are a few people here that run D2OL on linux, so if u have a problem, just post. Good luck on trying to figure out how to make it work.
Yeah, my ibook pulls in like 4-5 cands a day The regular xbox uses a 700mhz P3 thoughOriginally Posted by Syzzer

AN OPEN MIND, WITH A CLOSED FIST.
I'm running two crunchers on linux right now. My 4800+ on linux is amazing as far as D2OL goes. If your xbox isnt doing anything all the time, then go for it!
you get +3 1337 pts =)

Old thread Revivalage. So after Linux on my ipod, my Xbox is the next target. There are many Linux distros for Xbox, some even CD bootable. in the morning ill link tot the bootable install if someone linux knowledgable could add d2ol to the install my box is already modded so it should work rather simply. but the i need to figure out how to get it to share internet through my dual LAN on the DFI....
How about for the 360? Come Nov 21st I'll have 2 of those to play with for a bit.

You may have to give static IP or just setup DHCP somewhere on your LAN.
simple you just set your computer to share his internet connection (dont ask me for exact way or form or button to do it but I know it's somewhere in "my networklocations" and then the their properties. Then you just set your Xbox's gateway as your DFI comp and your all done. Just see the IP is in the same range and subnet as your DFI comp is
Goddamnit, I just sold my XBOX... Good luck on it though!! If you get it working, maybe right a guide on it?
