I can't test with higher voltage because my board is limited at 2.25v
If they're red heatspreaders, then they're 100% D9 fats. You'll probably be able to reattach the heatspreaders so long as you don't cut the clips off and you don't rip an IC off either. Use Steven's suggestion and look at the chips from the side under the spreader and you can tell by how wide they are if they're D9 fatty.

    IC's are squares.
I can't remove the heatsinks, it looks like they are "glued" to the IC's and I'm afraid that I would rip one off.

So these are not fatty's, because if I'm correct fatty's arn't squares.

Maybe some other revision of the fatbodies ? There are some D9XXX which clock pretty well even when they are 'thin'

That's true, D9 fatty's are almost as big as the PCB

I bought them on the 21th of february 2006, so long after they stopped producing it.
    IC's are like 1cm by 1cm

Any hints on removing the heatsinks without cutting or pulling the IC's off?
I tryed heating, pulling, pushing, ... it didn't move an inch

Try freezing? I've heard that sticking the them in the freezer for a little while helps... I guess it makes the glue/adhesive brittle enough to detach from the ICs.

Lol. I used those flatheat screwdrivers to pry the sticky tape off the ram IC =D.

Just a thought, i wonder how many people stripped their rams, and then put it back and RMA-ed it when it died.

If we do that, Manufacturers go , we go

    It's not only about RMA.
If I want to sell them (and the sinks are off, so no waranty) pricing would be much lower. If the IC's are fatbody's it wouldn't make a difference, but if not...

All I know is that 1 year ago, they didn't use "true" fat bodies. they couldn't do 3-2-2 timings. (or my samples didn't anyway :P)

I can get 8000UL. On the heatspreader, it is labeled XMS8005v1.1. I'd like to know if this revision (1.1) is fat body or not. Are all 8000ULs fatties? Anyway, thanks for the help.

Spinal, nothing retail will have any fat body any longer. If that is what you seek you have to buy used. There are some very strong 2gig kits out there and intel gets some performance gain over 1gig. Just ask around or open a thread on what is good for your budget.

I was under the impression that it was no longer available unless you found old stick or bight used. I'd ask Tony about it.

The HZ from G.Skill so far seems to be very good aswell as the Corsiar PC6400 C3's, and the only other ones I know do well as I am fairly new to ddr2 is TeamGroup's ram. THey have some great bang for the buck ram at under $200 which I believe do 500mhz on average.

Alot of the Crucial PC6400 and PC8000's in AU are Fatbodies as well. Also last I checked some retailers still have Corsair ULs.

I ended up buying the G.Skill F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ with the Micron IC's for a very good price, fat bodies were just too expensive for 2GB
lots and lots of cores and lots and lots of tuners,HTPC's boards,cases,HDD's,vga's,DDR1&2&3 etc etc all powered by Corsair PSU's

I got a 2x1GB set of Fatbody D9 for around $500 iirc from Nintek (Crucial PC6400).

Only tested @ 1.8V but they do 690MHz 3-2-2-4 (FSB limitation, crappy Asus N4L :P)

They only have a 1GB (2x512MB) kit now that is loose in the bargain bin for over $300

There would be the very last place in AU I would buy anything
lots and lots of cores and lots and lots of tuners,HTPC's boards,cases,HDD's,vga's,DDR1&2&3 etc etc all powered by Corsair PSU's
