    * ULI southbridge sounds good
    * high vdimm availability - nothing mentioned on INQ, but on Asus it sounds not real anyway
    * actual availability in 2 weeks sounds unreal
    away & gone

The Asus motherboard, called the A8R-MVP, will support all socket 939 CPUs whether they're Sempr0ns, Athlon 64s or Athlon X2s.

    lol... too funny...

It looks like that there are a lot of mosfets near the Ram slots.
I think it might be possible that Asus offers high voltages. And i certainly hope it becomes true. I need a new Computer - fast.

Any more infos on the Asus A8R-MVP?
Only review I found is: http://www.amdzone.com/modules.php?o...tid=198&page=1

This board is really looking good, of course it doesn't have all the bios and voltage options of the DFI Crossfire board, but unlike the DFI, the Asus A8R-MVP uses the ULI M1575 SB, so it has much better USB performance and SATA2 support, and not to forget the HUGE price difference (the Asus costs about 55-60% less).

The reference ATI motherboards were good overclockers, so I guess that the Asus board shouldn't be bad... if only som1 could confirm this!
Who has this board (if it's out yet, bcs here it still isn't), you know other reviews or user comments?

Ok, that's what I thought... it explains why no1 is talking about it (for now)!

BTW, the title of this thread should be changed, the name of the motherboard should be in it!

Why doesnt Asus ever make a board right. I love their stability. But why dont they try to consider what customers need. They always got bad pci slot placements, etc.
They seem to like Intel more.
    Thanks

based on past Asus boards, any chance that the Deluxe revision will have the dark pcb?

    Good news: http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets...spx?i=2609&p=1
We think you will be particularly interested in a review that will appear in the next few days of the Asus A8R-MVP. It's a mainstream board with mainstream pricing, but the features and OC capabilities will probably surprise many - and it is also the first production board which uses the ULi M1575 South Bridge with SATA2 and fixed USB. Abit also tells us they will have review samples of their ATI Rx482/ULi M1575 available within the next 2 weeks. Abit blames their launch delays on constrained shipments of the same ULi M1575 south bridge.
The review is comming soon, and the board looks really promising...

Yeah, except the current crop of crossfire boards aren't just stopgag solutions until January until the R580 hits. Unless you're desperate waiting is probably a good option.

    Why should I wait?
I'm not really interested in Crossfire, what I'm looking for is a cheap board with good performance and overclocking abilities, and I seem to have found it.
Of course the other obvious option is the DFI NF4 Ultra-D, more OC and voltage options, but the board is more expensive and I have to buy a special water-block (about 60$) for the chipset. (ther's also the DFI ND4 infinity, but I can only find the SLI version in Switzerland, and it costs almost as much as the Ultra-D and more than the Asus)
And I think the voltage options of the ASUS A8R-MVP are more than enough for my Opteron 144 and the 2x1gb RAM sticks (Corsair PC3500LL/PC4000 or Crucial Ballistix, still need to decide between them), they don't need nor like high voltages...

Hmmm...this is most likely going to be cheaper than the DFI Crossfire one. More to the tune of the price of the SLI-DR, considering the color of the pcb and the options (only 3.2v vdimm)
