the 148's at CPU city are FX-57's!!!!! CABNE 0528 GPMW
Can someone tell me why CABNE 0528 GPMW means it is an FX-57? Is that the label you get on FX-57 CPU's or something?

FX-57s are always CABNE I think. and the rest of the code indicates that they might be some of the best fx-57's as well if the results in the below thread are anything to go buy.

Well **** man, you just managed to put a stupidly large grin on my face.

I seriously look like this smiley now ----->

Edit: Actually....what have I just ordered? What multiplier does it have? What is its stock volts? What is its stock speed?

I just saw "FX-57" and became somewhat single minded.

Multi is 11x so you'll need a htt of 273 to reach 3GHz . It is effectively a rebadged FX-57 with an 11x multi.

lol .. as soon as i saw the post back in this thread with those steppings and a link to the web site.. i was straight on the phone to CpuCity .. at 4pm they only had 3 left .. i then found a way of getting the money as I don’t get paid until next Friday, and went to purchase at 4:47 .. they said they had two left .. so i placed my order online ... and i will be getting one through soon .. YAHOOOO I CANT WAIT, ive got some OCZ plat rev 2's (TCCD) that i already have in my rig at the moment, that should work nicely with this CPU .. im gunning for 3.1ghz with my xp90 and panaflo 92mm 47cfm .. wish me luck

Just my luck! got an email from CPU City saying they are CABYE and not the CABNE they put on the site. Canceled my order. may as well take the chance with a 144 if thats the case.

You get the same email Le_Petit_Lapin?

Exactly the same mate. Not sure wether to leave the order as-is or to change the processor.

Suggestions? Leave it and go with the CABYE? Change it to something else?

Edit: Oh bugger it...I'm ordering it anyway, an extra multiplier is always useful, I've already budgeted for it, and its always nice to see "Opteron" every time I boot up.

    Wish me luck! :P

I was lucky enough to grab one of the CABNE 148 Opterons

I phoned them up and swapped my original 144 order to the 148 as the 148's were coming in the next day.

At the time I had no idea the of the stepping, or that it would be so great

My new DFI NF3 combined with 1GB G.Skill ram (also new) under my Mach II it is doing very well

Bit of a spending spree on my part, but on the whole WELL worth it I think

It may not be a FX-57 but if its from the same batch as OPB's FX-57 ... it might be really good. Here's a pic of his CPU.

And a link to his thread.
