    Found me a X1800XL @ retail

So I was at Frys in Fountain Valley this morning, looking for something else, and found six X1800XL's sitting on the shelf right next to some 7800GTX.

What else was I to do?

This was meant for my PC in the bedroom which displays on a 32" Sharp LCD. Main entent was for the AVIVO capablilities and such. The card does fit in a Shuttle ATi Express200 based system no problem. Only problem is heat as it reached high 80's, low 90's within a few minutes.

    3dmark05 at 575 core / 550mem - 7929 (FX53 running stock and drivers no tweaks)

Here are the markings on the core:

    R520
    215RFLBKA14FG
    N21311.00
    0536AAY

    Memory

    Samsung
    K4J55323QG - BC14

I am going to put it in my gaming rig (X2 3800 running 2.6) tonight and see what she will do with some water. Only bad thing is the current CCC will only allow for 575 core / 560 mem.

RickCain...are you considering pulling the plate off the cooler and doing the "GTX Cooling mod"? It would be interesting to see how much that would help.

wow, someone got one already. This boggles my mind. ATI is a Canadian company. I am about a 30 min drive from them yet the USA always gets their cards first. I can't find an X1800 locally or online anywhere yet you do by accident? pfsh.

Here are some pics of the card. I'm stuck at 575 core / 550 mem until a tool is released to go further. This card is one HOT mutha. It ran in the 80'sc (90's in 3d) with stock cooling and is not locked in at 63c with a waterblock. Even after three loops of 3dmark05, it never budged once I strapped the waterblock on (Aqua Computer Cuplex w/ 6800 mounting bracket).

I think the same thing, considering I live in Markham only 10 mins away from
them. You would think you can find atleast one small shop at pacific mall with atleast one card, but nooooooo.

Great pics of the card and set up, congrats on your new X1800 XL.

I didn't screenshot it but will once I find the happy spot. I am very tempted to take out the X2 3800 (runs 2.6) and slap the FX53 back in for some run.

Gaming is very nice with this card and the IQ seems to be the best I have seen, so far. Only problem so far is Serious Sam II won't run with HDR enabled. Just a black screen.

Congrats on your new card, but I must say this...You paid $491 for a card that's SLOWER than the cheaper 7800gtx?

That's dedication right there, you're definitely off your rocker, of course, aren't all hardware enthusiasts? After all, we pay $1000's for hardware we'll replace in less than a year!

That said, show us some better numbers! Also, what temps did you manage out of the card on stock cooling in a case that's not SFF?

Hey, people still bought FX5800/FX5900, yes?

Also, X1800 series has nicer 2D features (AVIVO) and may OC nicely. It's using 1.4ns RAM (compared to 2.0 or 1.6ns on 7800GT) Maxxing CCC at stock is a good start

It hits about 34 cables with extra volts, but that isn't on stock cooling, that was on LN2.

what are you OC'ing it with? Why not try ATI tool or see if rivatuner has support for it, or ATI Tray tools even.

GJ on being one of the first people in the wild to have on of these cards though! Nice find. Looks to be about on a par with a 7800gt.

TEDY....soon enough these should drop below MSRP once the initial rush is over (because people ARE buying them at these prices!). We also don't know the OCing potential yet--this may be able to compete with an OC'd GTX, but we don't know yet, it's too early in the game.

In the meantime, keep up the good work RickCain and have fun with your new X1800XL (and your Fatal1ty X-Fi )!
