Just finished dual Prime for 16 hours at 3003Mhz 1.29vCore.
Lets see how low i can get the Vcore before trying to find the max overclock.
Cant seem to register with imageshack it did not send to my Hotmail.co.uk address.

Hey guys, I have a question, I didn't get an Opteron 165 for overclocking reasons, I just wanted to rebel against my cousin's comments about the X2 being superior to all other AMD64 chips, now I want to get a X1950XT soon, is 1.8GHz (3.12GHz effectivly) enough to fully utilize a GPU like that, and if not, what would be a good Clockspeed to bump the chip up to?
i just got my new opty 165 CCBBE 0615EPMW on my dfi nf4 sli-dr board, and i can't go over 2700 prime stable i don't know what i'm doing wrong i just took out my x2-3800 toledo it was 24/7 stable at 2900 with the same ram now i can't go over 2734 right now prime stable, maybe somebody could tell me what i'm doing wrong?
THX for any help
hi all im new to the forum but have been reading the forums for awhile..well ive decided to have a tinker and overclock of a system

Okay, let me just make sure you realize what you're doing. Chips get tested in rigorous enviornments and let's say an Opteron 170 chip can't handle 2GHz with available error safe headroom, they will downclock it to an Opteron 165 speed and test it again in the same enviornemt, and if it passes, it is boxed up and shipped as an Opteron 165 chip. Overclocking get's rid of an error room that downclocking the chip provided, in other words, your chip will be more prown to fail. You will also shorten the lifespan of the chip, regardless of coolant, and no matter how "stable" the chip is, there's always tiny errors being processed each cycle that seem "unnoticable". Overclocking, on the other hand, gives you extra performance for less money, and it's a very addictive hobby. I'd say just be sure you're going to replace your chipset/CPU/RAM sets within 10 years and you'll probably be okay Overclocking. You may have known about everything I've told you, I just wanted to be sure you knew what you're doing to your chip. In response to your question, DO NOT just find the top speeds that people say and jack the clock speed up that high, take baby steps, up the clock speed 100MHz at a time and test it, then if it passes up it 100 more MHz, test it again, and when it fails to pass as "stable" bump it down 50MHz at a time till the chip can stabilize, that's the best way to OC it in my limited experience with Opteron Chips.Originally Posted by UK_HELL

U think it will oc as the 0614 week? i hope so...

Why didn't you go dual core?
ASUS P5K-E/WIFI-AP, Q6600 @ 3.4GHz 1.3v, Tuniq Tower 120, 4Gb OCZ PC2 8500 Reaper HPC, Asus HD5870, 320Gb Seagate 7200.10 SATAII, 500Gb Sammy F1, NEC ND4550A DVD burner, Corsair TX 750w PSU, Antec P182.
well i dont move to a dualcore because i dont need it, and i prefer single core because are more cheaper and have better performance on games. I bought this opteron cab1e on Ebay, and it cost to me 32euros (40$ +-) + ship cost, and its a NEW item
what do u think about this cab1e 0615 ? Will it overclock as 0614 cab1e week ?
I hope so...

I bought myself this evening a brand new DFI Lanparty UT nf4 Ulta-D mobo on eBay that came out of RMA,... just got out of the bag to test if it functions well.
It will be a replacement board for my ASRock that I'm still using here
I'm curious how high I can get my brandnew Opteron 165 on the DFI.
It's doing now stable 9x300Mhz. @ 1.41 Vcore
Running with G-Skill 2GBHX 3-3-3-7 1T @ 245Mhz.
