I love my ipod 3g 10gb, but it recently stopped being recognized by the computer, and it is essentially a paperweight now.. really sucks i must say..

and apple wont help me at all. they want me to pay 270 dollars to get it "fixed".. or rather replaced..

No thank you I will not buy a Ipod because I personally find 250 euros for a 4GB Ipod nano WAY to expensive.

I mean ok it's slim and small, and its battery lasts "long" but still... 250 euros! thats a lot of money if you ask me. I'd want one, thats not it, I just find it to expensive for what it in principle is.

I won't buy an iPod until the petrol prices reach £1.00+ a litre in every petrol station in the UK and I won't be able to afford to drive

When that does happen (probably next week ) I will prob get a Zen Micro.

i ended up voting "i would buy an ipod if..."

and my follow up to that would be:
    > if it called up local talent (ie VERY fine girls) and then make them want to love me in every sense you can think of.
    > It could make pizza, garlic bread and a fricking huge bottle of Cola with a press of a button
    > It had a built in tazer

I would buy an iPod if _____

    A: It wasn't a fxcking iPod.

Don't be a tool and get something along the lines of an iAudio X5. I can't tell you how sick I am of seeing those stupid white headphones all over campus. Arg.

The audio quality isn't that good, build quality is decent [they scratch to crap], and it's expensive to get music legally from iTunes [unless they have a new plan now, I don't keep up on it].

    You forgot about the videos.

Most of my pants have huge pockets so I'll probably just get a 1GB (or 2GB  ) MS Duo and use my PSP exclusively. When and if they come out with a stronger battery for it it will be unstoppable!

I haven't bought one yet for two reasons: my 'active' playlist is too big for the 1GB shuffles and the minis were too big. Nano has changed that, I'm getting a white 4GB soon. I'm also considering grabbing the upcoming 80GB as an external drive/complete collection storage, not sure how that would work though (having 2 iPods but 1 collection of music--they might fight).

And for everyone who thinks that they're ugly--to each their own, I happen to like the way they look (except the U2, all the minis and the black nano) and I imagine it should match my white polo with a white horse quite well.

i definitely would buy an Ipod ..... IF it could compete with its competitors, such as the IRiver's... It's simply not worth its money... People buy it "because they know someone who has it"... :/ while there's higher quality availble for less money.

I found an improvement moving from the mini to the nano in sound quality. It sounded much lighter and open. Maybe because it is brand new, anyway sound quality is not my priority when i'm listening to the mp3 on the street

the 2 mp3 players i'm most interested are (in order):
    mintyMP3
    pjrc's mp3 player.

yes, they're both homebrews. i know. Also, if i were to make a mintymp3, i'd modify it for use with a laptop drive rather than CF (probably), though big CF is getting cheap.

I used to be an Ipod Hater. I do agree that its very much a fashion trend but I have been using it alot and its pretty nifty. My girlfriends Zen micro is smaller then my mini and has eax but besides that it's realy not much better. The mac's have very good amps as far as I can tell, they are easy to use, have not experienced any problems with software unlike the Zen Micro that often wants you to reformat or reboot.
