    939 Board for Non-Overclocker

    Hi all,

As the title suggests, I'm looking for a good socket 939 board for a non-overclocker.
A friend of mine has asked me to source a good mb for him, but he doesn't want to splurge out on a Lanparty as he won't be overclocking and it is too expensive for what he wants to spend.
All I know are oc boards, so I'm asking for any suggestions or experience that you have that could help me help my mate.
The only pre-requisites are that it has to be a reliable socket 939 board with PCI-E preferably.

    Thanks,

    Dave

The most stable boards I've ever owned or dealt with were Gigabyte. I have an old board lying around here with several bad caps (see www.badcaps.net) and is still stable as ever.

Gigabyte boards are the best choice for your requirements
if price wasn't a matter I would have suggest tyan..

The price of reliability is the pursuit of the utmost simplicity. It is a price which the very rich find most hard to pay.

Modern Ram, makes an old overclocker miss BH-5 and the fun it was

Hadn't seen any feedback on the DFI Infinity line. But it's fairly cheap ($85 or so at NewEgg) and hopefully the LanParty quality will be there as well...

Asus very nice for non-overclocker. The thing is the SLI versions cost more than the LanParty does or around the same price. So in that case I would recommend a LanParty just in case he changes his mind . If the pricing has a lot of difference, then Asus for non-OC.

A Chaintech VNF4-Ultra does the job, and anyways it´s still a good clocker.

If you won´t be playing, a MSI RS480 is a stable mobo and has integrated video with possibility of future upgrade via PCI-e.
