This Brisbane 1.9ghz is a sweet one, it has no problem with orthos at 2.9ghz on stock voltage, but even with a lower HTT multi (3x) it still might currupt something on restart.

The confusing thing is that it doesn't seem to mind the DDR2 400 multiplier, but if I got to the 533 that's when I get a lot more instability, I don't see why my RAM would affect the SATA drive though.

That's the best way to avoid corrupting your windows install

And that goes for any board... hypertransport is a crummy corrupter if played with to much!

If you don't understand from this screenie, I have no clue how to help you.

look at the THREE VID controls/options in there.

VID Startup Value: EXACTLY what A64info reports as your VID, I changed mine to 1.1v(even with cnq disabled) and thats what it reports. If you leave it on Auto you will get either 1.4v or 1.35v -depends on chip.

VID Control and VID Special control I'm sure you already know.

What I don't understand is why you want to let it start at 1.1V with C&Q disabled and an OC'ed cpu, that seems just loco... why?

So basically saying that that value really cannot be used to determine a better/worse chip. It's not concrete evidence.

I changed my Brisbane to Windsor.

I think I had the worst Brisbane EVER. It clocked max. 2.4GHz @ 1.4V, and didn't go much further with more VCore.

I decided to change it to brand new Windsor, and haven't regretted for a single second. Currently running @ 2.5GHz @ 1.23V. Haven't tested more. But I think this one will go around 2.8-3GHz.

Even this one has 256KB of L2, I think that 500MHz on CPU Frequency will be faster, + I got 5 euros from changing these chips.

stay away from the 0.5 multi, it decreases the ram perfromance very much

use either 9x or 10x but not 9.5

    EDIT:

ops this is AM2 not 939

forget about what i said above

my first dual core till I hand this PC over to family.

    X2 3800 Toledo-512k
    LCB1E 0619 RPMW

    2.920ghz 1.488v is stable (DMM)

Doesn't really scale well, and temps are misleading (core 0 reports 16C idle, whereas ambients are atleast 20+ and core1 is 30C idle) Needs better cooling anyway, I'm on ancient aftermarket cooling.

I think this will be a really good chip if I had better cooling and new DFI board (this one degraded a bit)

    at 315x9.5
    vcore up to 1.4v
    keeps rebooting when running S&M

    too little juice?

Hmm, I was able to do some suicide runs @ 2.96GHz. Stable @ 2.85GHz, if I keep the window open.

Need to do some 2.8GHz Priming today.

GMX, I have the same stepping 3800+ x2 as you (LCBIE 0619RPMW). I am interested in knowing your batch no as well as your TCaseMax & TDP readings for comparison.

    I got X2 3800+ LCBIE 0621 VPMW, currently overclock to 2.5GHz @ stock vcore.

but I faced a problem, that's even at idle, temperature difference between both core at least 8'c or more.

by the way, I'm using noctua U12 heatsink with 120mm fan

I dont remember the batch number, it was something around 120~

    Tcasemax is 65C
    TDP is 71.9W

    Cheers

The reason I ask, is because from all the LCBIE 0618-0627 x2's I have seen, I had one of the lowest TCaseMax's & TDP's, so I concluded that it was a bit of a dud chip comparitive to the rest of the LCBIE batches. The LCBIE 0618EPMW's were doing 3.0-3.1Ghz @ ~1.44v, which was what I was ideally hoping for.

My TCaseMax is 63 & TDP is slightly lower than yours at 65 from memory. Based on your results so far, the scaling with voltage is pretty similar between the two chips. I have got 2.95Ghz @ 1.47v, haven't tried higher, but will within the next few weeks when I take the chip out of the cupboard

    Will keep you posted.
