Budget PC as a Christmas gift

As I Christmas gift to a first-time computer owner, I promised to buy and assemble a PC. I would like to order all the parts I need from NewEgg. I already have 512MB of PC133 ECC 168-pin SDRAM that I want to use in this machine.

I want to use this black Micro-ATX case. Can I use the stock power supply, or is it junk?

I am thinking of either this Micro-ATX MSI motherboard and an Intel Celeron PIII 1.1A, OR:
this Micro-ATX MSI motherboard and an AMD Duron 1.3GHz.

Is the AMD the clear choice? Will a ThermalTake Volcano 5 provide enough cooling for either of these, and will it fit?

I have an older ATA HDD I will use, until I find out if more space or performance is necessary. I may pick up a black FDD and CD-ROM, or I may just paint a couple of beige ones I have around.

Will this all work together okay?

1st off, the case isn't bad looking, but that psu sux! I doubt it would power either setup. You'll need at least a 250w, but I'd recommend a 300w to play it safe. Here's a better suggestion:

2nd, There's much better mobo's on the market for cheaper than that one, get the kt266a chipset or better if possible. Leaves more room for upgrading and better performance. Here's some other suggestions here:

In this case (no pun intended) it has been made very clear to me that smaller is better, so I intend to build a Micro-ATX system. Both the case and MB you recommend are full size ATX.

Also, I want to use the PC133 RAM I already have, which is why I didn't look at DDR MB's. Am I going about this wrong?

Another Black case. This one has an Enhance 300W, with great 3.3/5V rail TCO (for a 300w PSU, that is) plus a tweakable 5v/12v rail. A case-side fan and screwless assembly.

Didn't see your reply SHODAN. Micro ATX/Flex don't come with large wattage PSU, wish they did. Sorry!

Still not Micro-ATX. What about a case from a different retailer? I'd rather not split the order, but if I must I will.
