The conroe uses 4mb's of L2, it is a SSE monster. 2 cores, extra 64 bit line. About it. Will be a great multi-tasker. But its really not that impressave.

my only gripe about Tec's is the lack of load-holding and not to mention the extra psu needed. it's gonna be about 320 for the ram.. that leaves.... well im too lazy to figure it out but about 500-ish for total system cooling

Then get phase. Cause I doubt you'll find 480$ to spend on w/c without being completely wierd.

Water is good for your. Grab Swiftech's latest APEX H20 kit. It'll be perfect for you.

$480 won't be enough for phase unless you plan on building it yourself, and then you still wouldn't have any cooling on your GPU. Water cooling seems like its good for you. I definitely wouldn't spend $480 on it though, there's nothing wrong with finishing underbudget

if it was me, and I had to spend $480 on cooling, I'd buy a hefty water cooling rig, possibly skimping on the radiator, and put the leftover $ into building a chiller.

but that's just me. I like to tinker and a chiller is within reach of my current skillset, whereas homemade phase is probably not (yet).

well with that heatercore ull deffinetly be able to keep urself under budget.

I suggest that you clean the HC out with some high pressure water from your hose and put some industrial solvent in there to clean out any garbage.

Swiftech's Storm for the CPU, none better @ normal retail.
Fusion HL by Silverprop 4 GPU or GPU Maze 4 by Danger Den
Pump can be several options. D4, D5, 50Z and several others, all will do well.

Nice rad. Make up a good shroud and you're set.

    with that budget, dual loops?

CPU loop with Swifty Storm, BIX2, MCP655 (basically Swifty kit)
GPU loop, same deal but use DD-NV68 or Maze 4 / MCW-50 for GPU and whatever you want for the NB

It's rather inexpensive. The SwiftTech Storm G4 is a mere $76 at FrozenCPU. It's even in stock (2 left).

Don't even get it from Swiftech...it'll take them 2 weeks to ship. :/ I know because I tried getting one from there, and then i realized, that's pretty gay. So, i went and got one from Voyeurmods. But, beware...Voyeurmods employee's can't handle shipping large orders without missing some stuff in your order.
