sorry, newbie... err, anyone any good with their plumbing?

what are these pipelines, and how do they affect clock rates?

all info i found was either "this is the mouse and is used to control the pointer" or sumthing about stepping and some other stuff i dont understand ....(ie too simple or way, way, waaaaaaaay too complicated)

maybe someone knows of a good tutorial about pipelines?

    thanks for helping me out

What pipes are you talking about? Dryice containers? Phasechange cooling?

i THINk hes talking about the longer pipelines in intel p4's which allow for higher clockspeeds or something, but his question makes NO sense. thats why i thought he might be drunk.

Long pipelines = bad. Short pipelines = good. The P3-S (aka Tualatin) had an 8 stage pipeline, which allowed for superior performance to the Pentium 4's of the time, but sucked for clockspeed.

hehe, sorry, should have been more specefic, was kinda thinking, erm, typing out loud....

    yeah vincent, those things....

i mean, what are those cpu pipelines, that everyone talks about and why do they give higher clockrates when they are longer?

are they the same as those pixel pipes in graphics cards?(not that i know what those are either...)

sorry bout all the q's and confusion
