Would my GTS250 be worth anything? Not sure what cards still run F@H these days.

any of them will im pretty sure.

Currently my desktop is running a 5850hd and an i7-920 and im getting about 13k ppd on it

luckily im the sys admin for about 400 pc's so im going through and getting them to help us out .

But yeah, with the new core that you can dl from the main page it will auto run on just about anything you currently have on your machine.

Ive got some 5 year old core 2's 2.5ghz getting ~4k ppd

prior to my deployment i was not using my GTX290 to fold because i could not get it to work. does anyone know if the issues have been fixed? if i could get it working and dedicate 1 of the 6 CPU cores to the GPU i bet i could get even better than 1M/m points....

Im unsure, but I know with the most recent release they went through and fixed tons of bugs with the gpu cores.

Well it isn't running right now. The system got really grumpy and virtually unusable. I wonder if it is because I have a 3rd monitor connected to a USB>HDMI box.

Run speedfan when you fire it up and see whats running over the top.

    Was it just crippled?

GPUz crashes when I try to start it. nvidia control panel doesn't even show the GTS250 I'll try speedfan. But yeah, it ran so horribly like the entire screen would freeze for a few seconds at a time, especially when trying to scroll a webpage or move a window or something. So weird.

    Yikes lol.

Have you been using this machine up until this point?

Might try to update the vid drivers.

Yup I've been using it fine. As of the beginning of this month it had the latest drivers.

i was running a 965EE with 2x GTX 285's - one thing i noticed: when i stopped running the GPU's and ran the CPU by itself, my ppd went UP!! - the CPU is too inefficient at monitoring its own usage. if you watch the cores' usage while running the GPU's, they jump all over the place. either dedicate an entire core to the GPUs or just disable the GPUs altogether - that's what i did. when i get back (assuming they fixed the 690 folding cores) i will try dedicating 1/6 cores for handling the GPUs and see what happens. if usage still drops below what the CPU was doing alone, then i'll just turn off the GPUs.

@Sparky: your not trying to use your GPU while its folding.....are you? trust me - BAD idea. you use a LOT of the GPU functionality to run F@H. doing *anything* else while folding using the GPUs will be impossible. and you can't simply stop them in the client - you have to completely close the F@H client - and check to make sure its not still running in the processes tab of task manager - if it is, stop the process. that should return your GPU functionality to normal.

Man, some of my customers are complaining about slow machines now

I may just have to set up my own folding lab

Good thing ive got 20x machines on hand with core 2's lol.

Does anyone know of a way to maybe sync them up?

I now see that my PPD is so low because my GPU is only being used at 31%...

I need to figure out how to pump that to 100
