Yeah - those heat exchangers will have to be totally insulated. I would think you would want another 2 inches of foam spray around each HX. I wouldn't worry about insulating the expansion tanks. It wouldn't hurt though. Maybe you could insulate everything together. (HX and expansion tanks)

    3rd Update 8-9-05

To run a delog cycle I need to heat up the evap blocks from -100C to 0C. To do this I'm using a Watlow 50watt heater.

I drilled one hole in each of the evap blocks for the heaters. I tried to put the heaters in the center of the blocks but my suction line was in my way.

I put the two 92mm fans in that will blow air across the two Raptor 74GB hard drives

The rest of the what time I had I spent wiring up the two compressors.

Those compressors on the other hand look like they can use a fan or two since they are bunched together like that

maybe thats what the 2 big brackets above the compressors are for?

    Thank you.

I wouldn't even want to guess how much this would cost if he didn't have all that help. The metal and machine work alone would be a pretty penny.

I believe the brackets above the compressors are to hold his mobo bathtub. Look back at earlier pics.

Are the raptord getting screwed straight onto those brackets, or will there be some sort of vibration mount? I'm sure the whole case will have a bit of a hum to it from all those compressors, and the brackets don't exactly look forgiving. I'd hate to see such an amazing rig brought down by a dead hard drive.

    4th Update 8-11-05

I soldered the oil return lines to the compressors and had to use a fleer feting on the oil separators. I used Loctite Stop Leak on all the treads.

You can see the two blue Henry Technology oil separators.

I used Nitrogen to displace all the air.

    Discharge side of the compressors

    Refrigeration Research Receiver

In line heat exchangers, Refrigeration Research they have a 3/8" suction line and 1/4" discharge line.

Soldering the 3/8" auction lines in.

You can see I insulated the suction accumulator. I used 1" closed cell foam top and bottom and 3/4" on the sides. To mount it and keep from transferring and keep from having condensation on the aluminum I used a 3/4" rubber plug that had a nut in the center. I'm able to tighten the nut down to hold the suction accumulator in places.

All those lines take a lot of time to bend. There were a few I had to redo. I would have done more but ran out of the 3/8” insulation and had to order more.

I'm going on a trip and well pick back up on 8-24-05, going fishing in Canada!

I might use a rubber bushing with a screw in the middle to help with the vibrations.

Could you give me the details of this delog cycle? I few things concern me on that. Flow chart would be nice. PC off high stage off etc etc. Exact sequence would be useful.

    Regards

    John.
