    4400+/Ultra-D (7:10 memory divider HELP!!)

    So,

based on my calculations, I set my FSB to 286, my CPU multi to 9, my HTT multi to 3, and the mem. divider to 7:10...

    I SHOULD GET:

    2.57Ghz CPU Speed
    200.2Mhz Memory Speed
    858 HTT

    BUT..... INSTEAD, I GET:

    2.57 Ghz CPU OK!!
    188mhz memory (WTF????)
    HTT Okay.

Also, when using the 7:10 memory divider. CPUZ mem speed is grayed out??? Clockgen memory speed reads as -286mhz???? Everest home reads as 188mhz??

Why do all these apps seem to have problems with this divider.... and why is my mem only at 188mhz??? Did I calculate wrong or something???

    Thanks all.

well one thing first its impossible for you to have your memory at 188 if your cpu speed is 2570 the 133 ram divider will give you 183 and the 143 divider will give you 197 at that cpu speed. the way it works is your cpu speed divided by an integer and has nothing to do with your htt speed.
to calculate your mem speed you need to divide your cpu speed by a number which is invisible for some damn reason and they give you stupid ratios that do not scale correctly.

now remember this table only is correct for a 9x cpu multiplier
and a different table would have to be made for a different cpu multiplier

    2570cpu speed with 200mhz ram divider = 2570/9 =285mhz ram speed
2570cpu speed with 183mhz ram divider = 2570/10=257mhz ram speed
2570cpu speed with 166mhz ram divider = 2570/11=233mhz ram speed
2570cpu speed with 150mhz ram divider = 2570/12=214mhz ram speed
2570cpu speed with 143mhz ram divider = 2570/13=197mhz ram speed
2570cpu speed with 133mhz ram divider = 2570/14=183mhz ram speed
2570cpu speed with 125mhz ram divider = 2570/15=171mhz ram speed
2570cpu speed with 100mhz ram divider = 2570/18=142mhz ram speed

as you can see the ratios are a joke and they should just put the integer in there so it says under ram speed options
    speed
    cpumhz/9 or 200mhz
    cpumhz/10 or 183mhz
    ect ect ect
and these ratios are different for any given multiplier
for instance any given multipliers 200mhz ratio will equal that cpu multiplier
ex 10x250 the 200mhz ram option is cpu speed /10
or 13x200 the 200mhz ram option is cpu speed/13
then the multipliers go up from there but sometimes they skip an integer so be carefull

btw use the attached table to figure out any memory speed exactly and dont trust any software to do this correctly it is always off just divide cpu mhz by the multiplier shown on the attached table to figure the exact memory speed ok

    I'd say it's really 198Mhz

    9*286 / ceil(9*200 / 143.33) = 198

edit: brandinb, didn't see your post there.. i'm not trying to to you about the 1Mhz lol i just realised it kinda seems like it

Thanks guys. By the way, my calculations were correct and they agree with what you're saying, that my memory should be around the 200mhz mark...

I was just wondering why software was displaying it incorrectly....

    Thanks all.

my advice is try the 150 divider that ram you got should run pc 3500 speeds @ 215-216ish

The 7:10 memory divider didn't show up correctly for me via software either. CPU-Z wouldn't even list my memory speed at all.

haha actually your right because i calculated it off 2570 cpu speed when its actually about 2578 or 286.5x9 because dfi adds about .5fsb usually so when i calculate it off of 2578 its 198.3mhz that 8 cpu mhz gives about 1mhz different ram speed

yeah the software to display mem speed is ummm.... retarted. its not programed correctly or something. anyways the table above in the attachment is straight from oscar wu head dfi engeneer so i can guarantee its the only sure way to know your exact memory speed
