#ball3r::I purchased a PATA to SATA adapter from SIIG, the cost was $39.99 + shipping.
Then attach the SATA cable to the adapter and the power lead. After booting on the IDE controller and installing the SATA drivers, shut down the system and connect the SATA adapter w/cable to the hard drive. Then power up the system as normal. You have to set the boot order to floppy, scsi, cd-rom, then you will see the screen to enter the SATA controller's bios.
If you are not running raid, there is no need to enter this bios. Just allow the system to boot. That is all there is to it. I have had no problems and have this system up and running for over a month.

    Question

How do you know where ECS breaks off and Whomever takes over. Abit was having such a lousy job of thier building they were only on the verge of folding, then they made a deal with ECS to take over the mfg of thier mobo's. The info that had been given to us was this. Just because Abit purchased 1000's of transistors etc and got a bad batch. They built mobo's using these for several yrs. They knew they had the problem, just refused to do anything major about it until things were about to fall apart. Then they went to the largest mobo mfg in the world and asked them to make thier mobo's. We have no info to the contrary that this has been altered.

cause adapters suck, i returned my sata raid controller for an IDE133 one, after all my WD Se drives are only ata 100! nothing needs 150 right now, and you have to use crappy adapters! much happier with my rocketraid 404 card than the serial ata one with no LEd headers and extra adapters. I think id rather jsut get 2 more ata 100 drives than switch to sata when it first comes out anyways.

I hated mine thats all the 404 even can do raid 5!

    Question

You just don't get it do you? I have delt with people that have hard heads, but I think you really think you take first prize. If you can't see the picture, I don't feel like drawing any at this time.

on the issue of who maufactures Abits boards, I saw something somewhere (sorry, don't remember where) where someone from Abit was interviewed and stated that ECS only manufactures Abit boards for the OEM market. Abit makes their boards for the retail market. Not sure if that is good news or bad
