Northbridge on K8 Neo Plat. overheating

what can i do about the northbridge on my K8 Neo plat. overheating? it never used to overheat, but starting this month, i havent been able to do any gaming because whenever i do anything that stresses the system, the northbridge goes upto around 55C and the computer either hangs or restarts. right now its at 45C, and im just just typing this.

what kind of aftermarket cooler can i use?
or is this motherboard just dying?

all my case fans are working, so the airflow in my case is good, my cpu stays at around 45C full load, its just my northbridge thats causeing problems.

o and this is not overclocked, all settins at stock.

    Thanks

have you took the thermal pad off? if not i suggest you take it off and add some thermal paste or AS5, this should result in lower temps

it seems that the springs arnt applying enough presure for the thermal pad, or any thermal paste to work. is it normal that i can lift the heatsink up easily?

im gonna put some OCZ paste on it to see if that helps.

guess someone already put AS5 on there, but only part of the hs has contact with the chipset.

ok, i put some OCZ ultra 2 (only stuff i had) on the chipset, put the hs back on, and it seems that it isnt lifting up as easily as it was before, so time to test it out.
