    raid0 = 2 drives seen as one both have same information - redundant setup as backup for hard disk failure

    pro: redundancy
    con: takes twice the drive for half the size, $$$

    raid1 = 2 drives seen as one big drive

    pro: faster transfer rates
    con: lose one drive lose all information

    Raid0+1 = read both above and take both pro's

    raid5 = replaces raid2,3, and 4

    don't remember exactly what it does.

    Raid 5 is Raid 0 + 1 with 1 hard drive that takes over if any of the other 4 drives fail. Very nice but very expensive card and usually SCSI.
