anyone notice back on page 1 it appears to say "-5B 4", not C or D?
All along the watchtower the watchmen watch the eternal return.
did anybody realize to get CAS 2,5 with A64 plattform?
Getting mine tomorrow, hopefully will get 245Mhz without any problems so I can finally run 1:1. Will post the entry tomorrow night hopefully.
Most likely no. Cheap ram doesn't always mean poor OCs, but most OC very poorly. I'm cheap when it comes to pc parts (sounds like you are too). So, I buy cheaper stuff that'll OC well, rather than pay for bleeding edge tech. You can get some cheap stuff to OC well enough so that you feel satisfied you got alot for a little.Originally Posted by brandinb
Ex, back in the nf2 days, I bought a Duron 1400 ($35) and OC'd it to 2400Mhz (1G increase) or Buffalo CH5 ($35) and OC'd it to 240fsb 1T/250 2T both at 2-2-2-7.
So you can get cheap stuff to do amazing things, but research, research, research!
Likewise, I'm buying 2x1G of Crucial Valueram (due in a few hours) that I'm hoping will get me 250Mhz at 3-3-3-10 1T.

i tried 2.5 tcl it was a no go. i changed bios to 704-3 and was able to get 260 3-3-3-8 with no memtest errors. my cpu cant hang so i'm back to 255 3-3-3-8 prime95 and super pi 32m stable. i'm happy with these numbers for 2gb of ram.

I just got my value ram in and the 1gb value ram is definitely 5b DOriginally Posted by ozzimark
Edit: As I had guessed, my VIA mobo is limiting me from finding out how far these chips will clock. But I'm running 225fsb easily. Any more than this will not be stable due to lack of agp/pci lock. Guess, I'm gonna have to wait.

Very nice EnJoY! How will you categorize a tight timings and low FSB, just put it at the bottom of the list you already have (granted that it is slower)? Or create a separate list based of tightest timings?
I've been looking for this. New to overclocking, and just finished building my first computer. I'm running 2X512 Corsair Value RAM right now cause I was undecided on the RAM. I definately want 2GB.
I was going to order the Ballistix tomorrow, or the 3200 OCZ, but I just realised there's a good number of Crucial Value RAM 1GB OCing just about as good as the PC4000 Ballistix.
Is it safe to say that I can almost be guaranteed 250mhz with the Crucial Value RAM? This would save me almost 200.00 if it can.
Are these the Vlue RAM that everyone is getting good results from?

Could someone post the Model# of the value RAM so I can track it down? Any help on this is greatly appreciated

absolutely not safe to say that...only one stick has hit 250 so far....I'll even guarantee that you won't get 250 on your first two sticks of value

I guess the chances of me hitting 250 is better with the ballistix, I mean they are rated that. Ballistix it is, gonna order right when Direct Deposit hits the bank in a few hours.Originally Posted by Vapor
My board only goes up to 2.8V, hopefully that's enough to get me the 250.

BTW guys, like I said, I'm new to overclocking. How long should memtest be ran to validate the RAM is stable at that speed?

i load optimized then only change htt. if i try and tweak any mem timings at all i get 1 error on memtest test 5. even if i set the timings back to defaults manualy i still get that 1 error. if i load optimized and dont touch a thing. i run memtest error free.
