    Hi , first post ever!

Sierra bound ur using 3v, anyone know the max these Ballistix can take?
I can only get 265 or so out of these sticks and 2.8v doesn't seem to help. Haven't tried anything higher yet as I have heard they can be a little sensitive!
    Thanks

I was haveing trouble with getting my sticks past 280. And even at 250 I would get a PFN_LIST_Corrupt debug code on cold boots, and sometimes on a warm reboot or reset. Did a search on M$ tech site and came up with it was most likely ban RAM.

So I started testing the sticks individually.
With all mem timings set to auto in the BIOS except for 3-3-3-8, found one stick would do 290 with ZERO error in prime stress ram/PI 32m anything I threw at it.
With a little tweaking 297 18hours prime stress ram errs free was doable.

Found the other stick to be the cause of the PFN_LIST_Corrupt, even at 240Mhz fully auto timings. Once in windows it would run up to about 280Mhz, but some time during the course of an hours worth of testing it would freak out and start spitting out errs, or cause games to crash.

So remember to test the sticks individually if your having any trouble

That sucks, I just ordered it a couple days ago... hasn't come yet. I know someone on extremeoverclocking said they were making some changes with the new shipment... oh well, we'll see how they do

My story is identical to Doom5's. Got it on Friday. Same silver heatspreaders and black pcbs. Same ty overclocks: 208MHz @ cas 2, 220Mhz @ cas 2.5.
Might make sense to cancel. And for those who were thinking of ordering, wait until this issue is resolved.

Do you also have the same voltage issues where raising the voltage doesn't help and will actually create errors at speeds that were stable at default voltage? 220 Cas 2.5 seems stable at 2.6volts(lowest my mobo goes) but if I raise it to 2.7 or 2.8, which is within spec for the memory, I get errors.

Got my Mushkin HP PC3200 2gb kit on friday from ZZF. Even though I'm not able to use them for another two weeks, I didn't want to see them sell out which they did the same day. My sticks are also sporting silver heatspreaders and I'm disappointed that they are not the new/better heatspreaders that Mushkin has been talking about.

Damn, if these overclock as poorly as others have been seeing, looks like they're going to be for sale and helps convince me to get some crucials. I hope this isn't a way for Mushkin to get people to buy the PC3700 instead, so they can make a few more bucks.

I thought I mentioned this before. Maybe it was at oc forums. Not sure. But the answer is yes. The highest voltage I can use is 2.65 for cas 2.5 @ 220MHz.

the new heatspreader started shipping with the redline only. we will start shipping them with the other products starting the 19th. The 3700 are with the old style heatspreaders also.

I may have to. I have a lazy stick too. One passes memtest at 295 MHz, and the other craps out around 255 or so at stock volts/timings.

my ram can do 302 mhz at 2.5.3.2.8 timings but only at 1200 mhz speed (4 × 302), is that allowed or has the cpu have to run at his normal speed ? hehe crappy toledo memory controller

would be nice if the CPU is run at atleast stock MHZ for this test/database.

why would anyone run a 2.4 gig CPU at 1.2gig ?? atleast keep a stock CPU as a min requirement.

    Talking 2x1GB Ballistix

1 stick looked okay @ 280, the other was higher but didn't really try since my CPU is 'MHZ challenged' . Played w/ CPU affinity and stuff avgd about 3-4hrs w/ prime. Ran just 2 processes (let teh OS decide who gets what like it normally would) .9GB prime24.13 w/ large mem FFTs and .9GB using OCCT (need something left for winblose) prime lasted 11.5 hrs and OCCT over 20 (killed it then so I could USE the machine) Running @ 260x10 so I can get enough out of it (2xD2oL ).
    Memtest BW: B4 (4x.5GB@2.5-3-3-6) 2988MB/s. After: (2x1GB@ 3-3-3-8) 3385 MB/s (Got up to 3564 @ 9x280 and when I tried to put it 3771 @ 9x300 (something to shoot for some day (more like 9x290 after a month burnin)).

Looking forward to see what my D2ol output is tomorrow

Same story here. I just missed getting the good stuff

Silver heatspreaders on mine, & it doesn't OC at all.

At stock timings, the highest i can get is 206. I had to loosen timings to 2.5-3-2 to actually get any higher, & i couldn't get into Windows @ 225 no matter how loose timings were. Ridiculous.

For the last time people....this is ing overclocking, if you happen to miss a good batch of something, stop crying like little babies. Yes, you could have gotten cheaper stuff for less, but either way you paid for these sticks and they function at their guaranteed speed. Don't take it out on Mushkin by RMAing them (even though Tom and Brian are being sports about it), don't take it out on Mushkin by ing in forums like XS and OCForum about how their PC3200 part doesn't do what it used to.

Mushkin is a business....introducing a higher speed binned part is competition against OCZ and Crucial, which is REQUIRED in business, and they can't exactly turn around to Infineon and to them about how poorly the BE-5 chips are OCing and demand an 'RMA'.

Give them a ing break, they make some of the best products available and help drive the industry forward...

To anyone else who complains about not purchasing the rare 250+ 2.5-3-2 sticks: fack you, deal with it.
