Official DFI Lanparty UT RDX200 CF-DR Thread

DFI has just sent me images and specifications of the Lanparty UT RDX200 CF-DR motherboard.

First we'll start off with an image of the motherboard itself. They have chosen to continue using the tradition Lanparty UT PCB color, along with the yellow UV slots.



As you can see, this board has a layout quite similar to the current Ultra-D and SLI-D/DR line of boards from DFI. This board incorperates the Promise SATA II 300 controller for SATA II drives.

Next we will see the actual voltage allowments of this board...



Upon further inspection of this board, it seems that there is no jumper to run the memory directly off of the 5v line. Most likely this board runs the memory directly off of the 5v line and not the +3.3v line. Not allowing the switch should help solve some of the problems found in the DFI NF4 Ultra-D and SLI series.

Overall this will be a great board for ATi Crossfire systems, we'll definitely have a full review of this board posted with full results in the near future, along with plenty of tweaks!

Gotta love that spacing people planing on running crossfire can do it alot easier now with air and water cooling. Yea I definitely dont see any other power connectors than the 24-pin. Thats an improvement now from the DFI with a P4 connector, 4-pin, and floppy connector. Saves on the cabling and mess which is always pleasent

EDIT: looks like you can use an aftermarket chipset cooler too...YAY! I get to use my MCX-159 I have just sitting around

The ETA for being able to purchase this in the retail channel is late July / early August.

Kinda skeptical of the 5v rail for vdimm. If you're using less than ~3.2v, you're not supposed to run with the 4v jumper on current DFI NF4 boards because it causes instability. Everyone knows the mandatory cooling required if you're running more than 3.2vdimm on the mosfet... Now that you're unable to choose which rail to use, you're doomed either way - instability below 3.2v, overheating above 3.2v if no active cooling is used.

Unless DFI finally starts using some quality components, or maybe using a 2phase setup for the vdimm? lol, doesn't look like it though. I just hope they ironed out the bugs...

I'll still be able to use my twisties to hold my fans to the ramslot clips..... looks good to me. Hope the board performs well.

Why is everybody so scareed of 5v "vdimm source"? It is not like it's something new... They used it on DFI NF2 mobos and they had no problem with either 2.6v nor 3.9v, after vmodded

If DFI is using similar voltage regulation as the Abit boards, the heat and the instability shouldn't be a problem as much as with the nF4 boards.

Looks like I'll have to swap out for one of these babies when they come out. Think I'll be able to sell the NF4?

ot need the External switcher deal...

I wouldn't be, bro. DFI NF2 boards were fed by 5v rail and worked beautifuly. Same goes for the Albatron KX18D. IMO, not having the 3.3v switch, makes the circuitry more simple and improves the odds of DFI making it right again.

It just sucks, because we are starting to look at the end of vmods era for mobos, I believe.

Well it's certainly looking good... I'm sure that DFI is learning from thier past mistakes (if any) and improving design as they go. I can't imagine they would produce another board with Vdimm supply issues that the NF4 boards are rumored to have or is it the UTT?
To be honest i never had a problem with my KHX3000 at 3.5v on my Lanparty so i wouldn't be fearing these boards with 5v supplied Vdimm MOSFET's before they're released.

Anyone notice the extra PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) controllers about the board ? Maybe that's why the memory can run on the 5v rail.

Probably the same technique used to share load over more PWM controllers for the CPU. Ie;4 phase PWM controllers vs 3 runs cooler because share loads.



The memory slot placement is going to make it harder to place fans over them.Why did they pick such an odd mem slot placement ?


I wonder what sound chip it has ? The Sapphire Grouper board has Intel's Azalia audio support with the SB450 southbridge using a Realtek codec.

take a look at the grouper threat you'll se that all of ati mobos run off the 5v rail and wont get hot they can handle like 40amps in it.

a really good mobo, but i just bought my lanparty nf4 so i wont buy it cou is the limiting factor not mobo (i might buy it if i get the cold boot/bug)

BTW, it's probably the ULi southbridge so don't expect anything hip
