Use dielectric grease. Tighten the bolts down very well.

I should use dielectric grease instead of the paste that came with it? Where can I get some?

oh nononono! you use the dielectric grease in the CPU SOCKET, use THERMAL PASTE on the CPU, never confuse the 2!

So for the cpu socket I use dielectric grease or the heat conduction compound that came with the vapochill and between the cpu and evap I use the heat conduction compound or thermal paste such as artic silver?

If you have Ceramique I have heard that works well with phase change.

Dont have any, only artic silver and brand-x tubes that came with heatsinks, that should still work better than the stuff that came with the LS right?

You put cpu thermal paste on top of the cpu (such as arctic silver, arctic alumina etc). Put the dielectric grease on BEFORE the cpu. You put it on your finger and use it to fill all the holes where the processer will go. Then put the processor on, so that the dielectric grease fills any gaps below the cpu and fills the holes where there the cpu pins go. If you do not do this your cpu pins will corrode and eventually render the cpu useless.

you put dielectric grease in the socket and the holes the cpu pins go into to prevent condensation forming in there and rusting your pins. you put thermal conduction compound on the cpu

Read that the thermal compound in question can deal with temps at least down to -50 preferrable more.

Ceramique is probably still the best. AS 5 should work also.

But best advice is take your time don´t rush anything. Read the manual 1-2-3 times take breaks.

It´s not hard. Also use tons of goop to fill your socket use just about all of it.

Ok thanks for the help guys, I was mainly wondering if any other LS owners have any tips for installation but it looks pretty easy.

I'll use the compound that came with the LS for the cpu socket and artic silver for contact between the cpu ihs and evap.

unless it's marked to go in the socket or as 'dielectric grease' dont do that.

Yes the thermal compund included is meant to go in the socket. Can be used on the die as well but it´s not as good as Arctic Ceramique

Remember it has to be AS 5. Previous Arctic Silver can´t handle such low temps you are probably going to get with your LS.

AS 3 for example I don´t know is it -10 it goes down to?

I just doubled checked and it's "Arctic Silver 5 High-Density Polysynthetic Silver Thermal Compound" Thanks for the tip Ill make sure to always use the right stuff in my sub-zero experiments.

Putting thermal paste in the socket is terrible, it will just transfer the cold to the back of the board. Use real dielectric grease.

The stuff that comes with it is true dielectric grease . Use it and use tons of it will mess up your temp readings probably but just go after your LS readings.

The stuff that comes with the vapochill is fine top use, it just runs out after a couple of sockets and is harder to clean up than dielectric grease.
My advice is to make sure you get the heater placement in the clamshell right first time, the glue on it is very sticky and is a right pain if you have to reallign it. Apart from that its dead easy.
    Good luck with the install.

no vapochill recomends using their paste in the stocket. It's very good thin paste that doesnt dry up like other pastes. I actually prefer it over all the artic silvers and white pastes out there.

But again problem is after you run out of it. you dont have anymore. Dont ever use the artic silvers, they always dry up and flake after too cold.

Also you can turn your fans down and not lose barely any performance 100% is loud!!! it's a hell of a lot colder over my Vapo PE!!!

Dont even ask where i've been!!!

Vapochill has put together a fine set of installation things, just follow the manual, and keep it simple, stupid
    Hail to extreme cooling!
