More (and more serious) Mach II problems

My Mach II doesn't get cold any more. I tryed fixing the mixed up USB cable, and now the unit appears to be non-functional.

It starts up just fine, the fans run, and the compressor heats up (a lot). But, the evap doesn't get cold - it won't go below 20C on the LCD readout, from my 23C room temperature.

I didn't change anything but the USB cable before this happened. With the USB cable unplugged, the unit is still non-functional (it doesn't get cold).

I can still hear that hissing noise in the evap when the unit is turned on, and the compressor still heats up.

I am at a loss, and desperate (I need this to be funtional for Saturday, I've organizing a LAN party for the weekend).

Please, if anyone has any advice or suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated. This is the pits

My geuss is that it sprung a leak, and has no refrigerant left in it.

I.E. it needs to be repaired and regassed.

    !

Is there any definite way to check for a leak?

How much will a repair and regass (Heck, I'd R402 it) likely cost?

felinusz I see you're in Toronto...

York Simcoe Refrigeration in Bolton modded my Mach I a few years back, with labour and everything it was around $200 CDN. Perhaps you can give them a call to inquire if they're busy...

Thanks Colin, I've talked with them before (you gave me their number on BFC a while back ).

Looks like I'll be having a forced upgrade that I can't really afford (I'm going to have them do a R402 regass, may as well).

Guys, is there any way to thoroughly test out the unit's integrity before having a regass done? I know to pressure test the unit, and I've got detailed instructions for the 402 regass already worked out, but I'm worried about more leaks - if the unit can spring a leak so suddenly, so easily, and without warning, I'll be worried nonstop with the unit running 24/7 on my machine.

Should I ask the HVAC fellow to check all the joints on the unit for integrity? I'm just not confident that a pressurization with C02 is enough. I don't want this to happen again, ever. Before this happened, I ran the unit at length with a peltier heatload, without issue... I'm sketched out by this.
