    How to Identify UTT-BH from UTT-CH ???

    Hello.

    I got a pair of 512MB Kreton/VT (UTT) + BP808 and was wondering how to identify if they're UTT-BH or UTT-CH.

    The rules of BH-5 vs CH-5 that I know are:
    - BH-5 cannot boot with CAS3
    - CH-5 cannot use tRFC 12
    - BH-5 usually 200Mhz <2.8v 2-2-2-X

    Now, my Kreton do boot with CAS3 but also do tRFC 12. Another thing is that they need 3.1v to pass Memtest86 at 200Mhz 2-2-2-x !

    Any idea? I smell they're UTT-CH but I need your experience to identify these.

    Ps. They do 250Mhz 2-2-2-8 as tight as it gets 7-12-00-2-1-2 with 3.4V .

    If you can see the chip code.....

    1J-50 1C-50 etc = CH
    2J-50 2C-50 etc = BH

    In my experience...no guarantees unfortunately but if they pass at 2.8v 2-2-2 and have a 2X-50...they should be BH

    Please test your sticks individually. If I'm not mistaking (could be that I tested the other pair), they booted fine at 200MHz 2-2-2-10 with 2.7V in my DFI.
    Could be that one stick is CH- and the other BH-based, although I doubt that. IMHO, all VT 512MB PC3200 sticks seem to be BH-based, at least the ones I had here, behaved like BH-based RAM. I got 2x 256MB VT UTT RAM that behaves differently, clearly like CH-based RAM.
    BTW, what board and bios are you using?
    And the thing is:
    They don't need to be stable at 200MHz with a voltage under 3V, to indicate they are BH-based. If they post at a voltage of 2.7-2.9V at 2-2-2-x timings then they are usually BH-based. CH-based RAM wouldn't even post at that volts with these timings.
    The fact that they might not be stable at those volts with 2-2-2-x timings, just underlines that they are UTT (UnTesTed). But after a burn-in, that could change.

    yea, my bh-5 on my value ram will pass memtest @ 2-2-2-X w/ 2.6v

    Booting @ 200MHz 2-2-2-x is not enough. My CH-UTTs boot fine @ 2.6V.

    I always go by the 2-2-2-5 200fsb voltage. I've never seen CH-die memory boot with anything under 3v. BH-5 and BH-die will boot up somewhere around 2.6-2.7v.

    It seems I got a weird mixture coz I can boot at CAS 3 and tRFC 12.

    Hey, maybe they´re UTT-DH U neverknow...

    My pair of TwinMos SP CH-UTT does tRFC 12 200MHz ~12h Stress Prime stable.
    No recollection about voltage and such.

    Guess I'm going to have to dig up the screenie... or run Prime again.

    I remember that UTT´s are "improved" from their original die. So maybe the UTT-CH is that way improved so it can run tRFC 12 .

    hmmm

    The real give away is operating 1T in NF2 boards at high FSB...230-240-250Mhz. BH just cant cut that.

    That was the great thing about CH UTT, even not great sticks in A64....sub 250Mhz could find a happy home in NF2 systems as 512M sticks that did 1T while no others would.

    yea 1T and high fsb isnt easy to get on NF2

    Easiest way to differentiate is that BH UTT cannot do CAS 3 at all, it is a chip limitation.

    This is in reference to OCZ Winbond BH/CH only. These IC codes listed above are specific to OCZ.
