Persuade me why I should go Socket 775

Ok a bit of a long storey but ive managed to get a brand new vapochill xe II for £150 less than retail price, only thing is its a s775 version so originally i was going to buy the s939 kit and convert it and still make a saving, now im looking at getting a intel 6xx and possibly a Epox EP-5LWA+ although will need new ram aswell, what would be anyones cpu and mobo suggestions for me to swap from my current dfi nf4 and 3700sd, I would have prefered ddr 1 board but will happily change if needed
