even if you couldnt rotate it then the fan would be blowing the hot air up to the psu fan, which would still be good, i really think this zalman is a winner, depends on how it performs, i may have to ditch my watercooling!

looks cool, I'd love to try one...

if this is really better then watercooling (which I don't buy into just yet) that would make me wonder... why hasn't anyone tried heatpipes, with watercooling

"The command and conquer model," said the EA CEO, "doesn't work. If you think you're going to buy a developer and put your name on the label... you're making a profound mistake."

I doubt this is any better than watercooling, but the performance could be close. Makes watercooling kind of worthless at the moment...

hmmmm.... im not sure it would work well, as the heat pipes are used to transfer the heat from the base to the fins, in the case of watercooling the base is the block and the fins are the radiator. i do have some ideas how it could be done though, but i dont think it would be practical.

too bad u can't use ur own fan - cos i'm guessing it will be a silent cooler... looking at their picture- it doesn't even reach 3000rpm

if the performance is better than an XP120 with a medium speed (ie, 60-80cfm) 120mm fan - then i'm up for it for sure. Hopefully the pricing is not much more than an XP90 though.

I might rather have a xp-120 if I was running high voltage ram though...the zalman doesn't look like it does much in the way of helping with ram cooling like the xp-120. What do you guys think?

It looks like you can mount the 9500 in either of 2 directions, so on a DFI nf4 board it could be mounted to blow over the ram modules and out a top blow hole of the case.

Why did they not put a shroud around it take out the front indent where the fan is and run push-pull with another fan on the back it would work MUCH better...IDK...zally is nice and perform decent but I only get them when I want silence NOT TRUE performance...

Yeah, but the outside dimensions of the round part are probably close to 120mm. I say make a custom cylindrical shroud and mount a medium speed 120mm fan on each end. See how well it does then...

i can't wait to get this heatsink. i'm already planning on a mod to maximize airflow. what i'm planning on doing is changing the position of the sink. instead of having is face the psu on one side and the vid card on the other side. i'll switch the position to face the front and back of the case. i know people will argue against this mod, but think about it. i'm planning on adding a 120mm fan to the sink along with the attached fan. ok, this is how i envision it to work. heatsink will face front and back of the case. the side that has the original fan will face the front since it'll push air into the heatsink. the back side will face the 120mm rear exhaust fan. i'll add another 120mm fan on the back side to suck hot air out from the heatsink. so the final setup will effectively be cold air blows into heatsink and hot air sucks out from the sink and exhaust thru rear 120mm fan. i hope that i can switch the mounting brackets . this idea is patent pending . let me know what you think about this.

I'm having similar thoughts. Great IDea but I'm sure that we aren't the only ones thinking the same thing.

Screw the smaller version imo zalman should give us the mideum version of that cooler or the big one. It would end all those hp wars from all companies

if the mounting brackets can't be removed then we can't do anything. i wonder if i can pitch the idea to zalman and see if they'll change the position of the mounting bracket
