My new Ln2/Co2 container and various junk..

Here is i pic of my newest creation. It looks rather innocent and havent been lapped yet but here it is anyway:
    http://koti.mbnet.fi/ilkkahy/ln2&co2...akippo%204.JPG

But then studied more carefully the brutal merciless construction comes to light...
    http://koti.mbnet.fi/ilkkahy/ln2&co2...akippo%206.JPG

And here it is as totally exposed:
    http://koti.mbnet.fi/ilkkahy/ln2&co2...akippo%202.jpg

I think it should handle the heat well. Here are some pictures of that similar other junk i have making in past year:

Those lighter containers work pretty well also tough.. I made this for Dani since he wanted something special.

Yeah its soldered. Its not near as good as if the whole bottom would be machined from huge single block but thats just out of the question. I could notice slightly different behaviour already when soldering it together compared to previous lighter containers.

I got it finished and packed up for sendig to Dani tomorrow.

Today I got myself some new materials and just couldnt help myself making a new base for container. I call it thy iron cross ...

    http://koti.mbnet.fi/ilkkahy/ln2&co2...isti%20001.jpg

It should work ok but there arent quite as much surface area as id like there to be (about 75cm^2 + pipe). On the other hand that surface area works with dryice wich is the whole idea.

Now that I have learnt some new dictionary I correct that it has been brazed with FOSCO (fosfor copper something) as all my containers.

Ill build that ironcross container to one piece in tuesday i think. I add that basic idea in that desing is the three dimensional in heat spreading. So the rather small 75cm^2 surface area in that base is well effective surface area.

Here is my newest container project.

    Idea:
    http://koti.mbnet.fi/ilkkahy/ln2&co2...ner%20plan.JPG

And the parts i just made for it:
    http://koti.mbnet.fi/ilkkahy/ln2&co2...tainer%202.jpg
    http://koti.mbnet.fi/ilkkahy/ln2&co2...tainer%203.jpg
    http://koti.mbnet.fi/ilkkahy/ln2&co2...tainer%201.jpg

The hard part is to find out optimal pressure for R1150. I tought about boiling point would be somewhere in -60c. Container itself will propably be in one piece today but it wont be functional in some time. Hatemi promised to fill the heatpipe since he had some R1150 already.. praise him for that!

If we get this thing to work it might be pretty effective for dryice

just look at a pressure/temp chart, it will give the pressure for a given temp.

ps: you do very nice work.

Yes I have made it as well as the container wich was used in Verdicts world record. Im going to build one similar container in this week so I can make little instructions for making one. Its very easy to make if you have access to lathe and usual tools.

    Its like this:

    http://koti.mbnet.fi/ilkkahy/ln2&co2...et%20kupit.jpg

Havent brazed that heatpipe container yet.. today ill get into it for sure.

Hahaha.. looks like the monster has developed itself a fur! Looks warm and coazy though

I got that heatpipe container brazed today:
    http://koti.mbnet.fi/ilkkahy/ln2&co2...tainer%205.jpg
    http://koti.mbnet.fi/ilkkahy/ln2&co2...tainer%206.jpg

Bad thing that I may need to change the refrigant valve so its not going to be finished quite yet.

Oh and here is a better pic from the base:
    http://koti.mbnet.fi/ilkkahy/ln2&co2...tainer%204.jpg

    Time will show...

Hehheh, yep, I dressed her if she gonna get some cold

I hope your heatpipe container will work, it seems to be a little bit, hmm, different CO2/LN2 container

Here is your old container compared to the new

Here is the modest instructions to build a working container if you dont want to try it many times. Its all in few very illustrative pictures

    building a container for retards

All you need is lathe and rälläkkä (i really dont know that tools name in english).

I got the heatpipe container finished and its now ready for filling. And to remind its only for dryice use (not Ln2).

I'm going to buy a container from Stinger on monday, it's made by chefnr1. Stinger and McMurphy made the design.
