Won't be coming back to XS for a long time...

Last night I came home from work to see my PC was not sitting on my desk... strange because everything else was still in my room basically untouched.
So I check out the back door of my flat, and sure enough it has been forced open.

This is actually the 4th time I have been burgled in the past 4 years and getting a bit tiresome... I didn't have insurance either because every time I get my house broken into I am too poor to think about insurance and by the time I have finally saved up enough to replace my gear it all happens again! Waaaaankers!

It seems a bit suspicious though, because I had 10 gigs of TwinMOS BH5 sitting right beside my PC and it hasn't been touched... ONLY the PC and Router were taken.
If the person that took my PC had of at least removed my HDDs before stealing my PC I wouldn't have lost 5 years worth of music... music I doubt I can replace...
Not only did they not take anything else in my room, they didnt take anything else in our entire house... the new DVD player, still there... my surfboard, still there... a digital camera in my room, still there... said TwinMOS, still there... my stereo, still there... strange.

Point of this thread is just to say good bye to everyone I have become friends with on this forum... It will take me a long time to get enough money to put towards an XS worthy PC, and to be honest I can't even afford to consider building a new PC now, I need to start thinking bout savings/travel/etc.

No doubt I will visit here on occasion but I will no longer be an active member unless some miracle happens.

So, to everyone on this forum I have helped or have been helped by, and most of all everyone on this forum I have become friends with...
Thanks man, this forum is a great place with a lot of great people, keep it this way!

    Words of wisdom:
You are never too poor for insurance
    Thieves a waaankers
On average strawberries have 200 seeds heehehhehe

    Peace

wow dude that really sucks. me thinks the reason why your ram is still there is because the thief probably just some average dude with no knowledge of computers. guess maybe he might not take proper care of it or abuse it and hopefully the psu with blow and catch fire and burn that SOB's place down.

hey, if the dude that stole ur copm isnt too smart, and u have some sort of instant mesenger service on ur computer on autorun, then he may turn on the computer and have it start up, or sign on ur screen name and try to talk to ppl or sumthing, ive had it happen before for one of my old friends, so you may be able to get an IP address or something that lets you know his location and whatnot, then you can call the police.

DId you file a police report? Even if you have no insurance, they can help, or try to. Trance has a good idea though.

If you have a cooling question or concern feel free to contact me.

Cheers for all the suggestions, Trance's one is good... my mate and i have actually been planning this already.

I have contacted the police already, i did it 10 minutes after finding out. Also, one of my flatmates is in police college right now and has been very helpful in collecting info about the situation.

I am short a hard drive to send him. If someone wants to send a HD that would help.

If you want to send to me to cover the international shipping costs that is fine as well.

I expect to ship on tuesday/wednesday.

mayby a dumb question, but what for is a home insurance (*don'T know right spelling, on german it'l be hausehaltsversicherung*) . anyway, to be in such a forum doesn'T contain to have a good pc (*anyway does not cost much if you got a highly-paid work, and other people don'T have even enough mony*) but is all about the knowledge ... . hm, strange burglers are there in new zeeland. in europe they wouldn'T take a computer and stuff like that but mony , jewelry and clocks because stuff like this is easier to get off again.

home insurance basically, if anything happens to your house, burglary, flood, volcanoe ... etc. they replace whatever you lost in teh accident.

also, you might wanna keep a close eye on the ppl that live around your flat, cuz alot of theives i think, dun wanna go very far from their own home to steal something, unless it's something they can pawn for alot of money, which reminds me, check the local pawn shops.

You should sell some of that Twinmos Bh-5 at over retail prices and we'd buy them to help you out

Though do one thing...hmmm...wait....did they touch the memory??? The Heatspreaders might still have fingerprints on them !!!

But whatever you do...pls oh pls...dont let it be true !!!
