    Memtest powers PC off ?

Testing my VX at 2-2-2-10 at 3.5V in memtes in the bios. Ran for 45 min. then just shut down, didn't reboot, just shutdown. Displayed no error nothing? Is this a power issue? Does this mean my memmory is not stable. I'm afraid to boot into windows to prime, because last time i booted with unstable memory I had to reformat. Then I just tried it again and after a half hour the same thing. I'm gonna run it again. But I wonder what this is?

yea it just shut off again. Is it because my 3.3V rail is at 3.65?

bumped up rail to 3.71, but it goes down to 3.67 in memtest? GOnna see how this goes. I have a feeling I wasn't giving enough headroom on the rail. It's passing memtest on 3.4V now

Let us know how that goes. It sounds like the board has some sort of protection built in to keep us from burning up the mem FET when Vmem gets too close to the rail. That is a good thing.

well It ran through 2 full passes, then 15 rounds of test 5 and then like 5 of test 8. Then I started letting it loop all of them again because I was ogign out and right before i left i noticed it was off again. Should I try booting into windows?

Also I noticed that in some test The Voltage drops from 3.67 to 3.66? Is that normal?

I had the same issues as you have before with my DFI rig in my sig...

Tried with VX4000/XMS3500 & PC3200 GOLD but I still had that problem...

At first I was told that it was my PSU (20pin Enermax 460w w/ 33a for 3.3/5/12v rails)...

I would start Memtest & it would run for like 10 minutes or so & then turn my rig off...

I tried various bios but that didn't solve the problem... Got a new 24pin PSU (OCZ PowerStream 520w) & the problem didn't go away at first...

It was like my rig did not like to be OCed (if you could call 205HTT an OC w/ tight timings)...

Found out the VX4000 was faulty but with my XMS3500 (stable up to 250MHz @ tight timings) I just couldn't find out the reason for it shutting down my PC...

    edit: Just noticed your sig..
Try the RAM 1 stick at a time to see if it makes any difference... Maybe try the RAM out on another rig as well... Maybe try the vDimm trick that BigToe showed where you're using the 3.3v rail to get the vDimm that you want by taking the 3.3v rail up a bit... I'm currently using that trick to get my desired vDimm as I don't wanna fry the mosfets... Neat trick too...

Specs are in my sig. I would take A64Tweaker Screenies, but again, don't know if i should go into windows like this as i just had a little disaster involving 3.8V and my SATA drive . Anyway I have not tested my ram anywhere else, nor do i realy have anywhere I know of that I could.

I have a connection through whom I htink I can get seom good OCZ TCCD at a good price. Should I do Try more ram.

Your post isn't very clear...you never found a solution?

I am using the 3.3V trick. My rail is at 3.67. I could try one stick at a time, but im not sure what that would accomplish

    Edit:

Seeing that you're using the 3.3v trick, maybe try using the 5v rail??

Apart from that, the only advice I could give is to run the RAM one stick at a time to see whther your RAM is good or not (see if they run at specs considering how bloody expensive they are)...

I was able to get 2-2-2-10 stable at 3.2V with the Help of RyderOCZ. Based on his settings, I pumped up my voltage to where i am now.

I also have a fan moving air across my sticks. PRetty sure the RAM is not dead, but it's certainly not the most cooperative set out there.

I think i'm goign to hotflash my Bios to 510-3 first. Maybe that will help? Do you know how to flash in windows? I have no floppy drive.

EDIT: hehe we keep editing around eachother. I actualy just went through this because I realized I was running 2-3-2-8 and not 2-2-2-8. With the help of RyderOCZ I was able to get stable DDR400 2-2-2-8 at 3.2V So I assume this means they are ok.

What happens if you run stock, 3.2v to the mem and 200mhz 2-2-2-x, does it still have this problem?

By stock you mean all ram settings default except the basic 4 and voltage? I don't know

I mean running the RAM at 3.2v with all the timings stock with your 3.3v rail at something like ~3.45v. If it works fine than, it's probly some type of safety feature maybe.

just checked and memtest is passing at 245 2-2-2-8 @ only 3.3V . So i lowered my 3.3V Rail to 3.57. I think .257V headroom is enough and is low enough not to cause my mobo any heart ache. We will see. I was just talking to a friend on aim and he thinks it could be my PSU doesnt like the 3.3V rail so high even though OCZ specs it to 3.8...looping memtest at 245 2-2-2-8 @ 3.3V now ill post results when i get them...

Ok well memtest ran 3.3V 2-2-2-10 for an hour and 45Min before I got bored. Except windows is noooot liking 245x10, or 240x10. BSODS and and random closing apps. So I'm at 200x10 ATM. Gonna go for 22x11 see if maybe that will do the trick. 245x10 was Pimod 4m stable but took 6 minutes and windows was pooping all over.
