    Should i upgrade?

Well Im an ATI fanboy and I was thinking of upgrading thiss summer from an intel to AMD. But I dont know if it is worth it yet because I want to make a system last me for like the next 4 years of gaming and with the AMR comming up for ATI, should I just wait for that then upgrade?

If so what should i upgrade to?

I have about 3.0 k USD to spend.

Get a nice DFI sli-DR, ax850xtpe, or dual 6800U, 2gb ram, a new shiny venice/san diego, and some raptors and a phase change unit from PC-ICE and OC it. Should keep games playing well for a long time.

    Athlon 64 X2 4800+ $1001
Videocard: Dual ATI Radeon x950XT PE @ maybe $599.99*2=1199.98
Motherboard: AMD socket939 & AMR compatible boards @ maybe $177.00
Soundcard: Creative Audigy 2 ZS @ $85.99 average from online stores
Powersupply: Lets just say you will need a powerful one...

    Conclusion:

    FUTURE-PROOF & Dual core ready (CPU&VPU)
Total cost about $2286.97-$2300. With AMD X2 4800+ based system, you can run current games smoothly, and run future games in top speed. Dunno about r520 videocards though. They might not even be around $599 each. And if you wanna spend more, lets forget about Dual ATI Radeon x950XT PE and go for 3x Radeon x950XT PE
