Has any one used the p4c800 (knot e) bios 1021.005 beta ?

my p4c800 e dlx and dothan 730 and ct-479 are all dead after pushing it to 275x10 with ram at 275 2.5-3-3-5 the pc reset the ct-479 will no longer tell the motherboard what vcore to use. in the p4c800-e it shows 1.7 upto 1.9 and in a p4p800se it shows 1v both have no options in the bios to the vcore.
then the cpu just died i guess the vcore running so high did this.

i picked up a used p4c800 dlx and borrowed a ct-479 and pm 740 from work.
after checking asus for the latest bios i flashed the 1021.005 beta.
everything seamed to be ok but i keep getting random resets. I checked the temps and they looked ok with stock settings of 133x13 on teh cpu.
i put a p4 back in the system and that is stable. Today i tested the ct-479 and cpu at work and that is stable too.
i think it's the bios that causing my problems but i will flash to 1021.003 to see if thats any better.

    P4P800DLX RAM settings

I'm using a P-M 760 in a P4P800DLX flashed to P4P800SE BIOS 1010.001. No matter how I set the RAM speed in the BIOS, I end up with a 3:4 FSB:RAM divider according to CPU-Z or Clockgen. I've tried pulling the jumpers off the CT-479, and every available RAM setting (266, 333 and auto at lower speeds). The end result is that I can't get a decent FSB because the RAM (Ballistix PC4000) is too overclocked.

For example, I have no problem running Prime 95 at 15x160 (2400), but 12 x 200 or 201 won't boot, because the RAM speed is too high. Do you think that this is a mobo or BIOS problem, or am I just doing something wrong? Suggestions very much appreciated.

I had a similar problem when I pushed my RAM too far. Try running a divider and make sure it's not the RAM.

Why not use the latest 1023 BIOS?

I got the same combination but i use bios 1021d.004 and have no problems only the multiplier is fixed at 13 can you choose different multipliers with bios 1021.005?

    you can get 1021d.004 here:

yes you can change the multi with 1021.005. i will try again sunday just incase it was somthing else like bad contact with the cooler.

@bnice7 it's not my ram thats the problem it's gskill ddr600 so running at 270 fsb is not even pushing it but it could be the mobo not happy as 270fsb.
1023 is for the p4c800-e i dont have the -e anymore and it wont work on the p4c800 as it has a intel lan and the none e has 3com lan.

looks like it was a poor contact with the cooler as it's been working ok for the past hour.

I flashed my P4C800 Deluxe too with the 1021.005 bios and i have the option to change the multiplier in the bios but if i choose another multiplier than 13,say 10 it still boot with 13 i think i have to wait for another beta bios

did you flash with the latest afudos if you dont the bootblock wont be programmed.
do you have a p4 chip you can put in the p4c. this will help reset the chip settings and should allow you to change the multi when you mut the dothan back in.
i have used 6 , 10,11,12 and 13 ok with the m740 but 8 wont post no matter what fsb.
this is common on most p4 boards with ct-479 that i have used.

    noob alert

I got a brand new Celeron 360J and a CT-479 for free. Just ordered a P4P800SE to match, and hopefully soon I'll have this up and running.

Googling for some tests and information I bumped into this forum and learned the Dothans have a lot of headroom for overclocking.

I hope my Celeron will run at 533 FSB.

So now I have a noob question on this subject. The CT-479 has a jumper to indicate what CPU you put on it, a 400FSB or a 533FSB.

So to try and make my Celly run at 533MHZ, should I use this jumper, or keep it at 400FSB and overclock only via the BIOS OC features? What's the difference between setting the jumper and using the BIOS?

    Thanks
    DT

Set 200fsb in bios en 400mhz mem, you will get 1:1.

Thanks. That's what you're supposed to get, but for some reason it's not doing it on this board.

    Thanks :D

Hi guys, just to let you know I have put together a 2.13 and P4P-800VM with the CT-479, will report back how I get on with overclocking it - a bit frustrated with the lack of FSB adjustment in bios but sure I can get around it somehow
First thought was to wire mod the ct-479 to default 800fsb but I have not looked at the specifics, (I know these ASUS boards seem to hit ocing walls if the default FSB is not set to 800). Anyway its just installing windows so I will look at that later.
Thanks for all the useful info

EDIT - Now at 166FSBx16 = 2.6ghz RAM is only stable at 3-3-3-8 using 3:4, max FSB I have had is 185, now I seem to be hitting a wall around 170-180 as usual with the ASUS boards...oh and I see bigtoe suggested the 800fsb mod already, hoping as I have muti adjustment in BIOS I should be able to boot at 800FSB, just need to find the pins - can anyone advise?

I'm having trouble with my 770 and P4C800-E Deluxe. i1023ed.rom BIOS. (flashed and runs with P4)

When the power lead to the Ct-479 is plugged in and I press the power button the fans just spin for a second, then dead. Without it the fans continue spinning but the monitor stays blank. Has anyone experienced this before?

Any ideas what it could be - could it be a dead CPU?

Not the cpu, something is wrong, motherboard, PSU, prob, the PSU is shutting itself off because something is wrong. Check for short-circuits, test a p4 in there (to check if its the adaptor) , test another psu, etc

The system runs fine with a P4, I tested it to ensure that the BIOS flash worked. Also running the rig now with a P4, typing this

I think one way would be to find someone with a Centrino computer that I can rip apart and try my CPU in...

I thought it could be a problem with the cable (shorting PSU or something), but I tried another and the same happens.

@Wwwww The problem is the VM board does not have FSB adjustment so cant boot at FSB other than 133 or 100, I need to trick it to think the default FSB is 200.
I need to find the BSEL pins to mod and would like to know if anyone else has done this as I dont want to fry my system!
    Thanks

Has anyone had experience on how a blown CPU reacts on this setup?
