Well I just got done installing the Vantec Iceberq4 and my temperatures have gone up atleast 2C!! WTF?! I even applied AS5. I tried reseating the whole thing twice now and the first time my temps almost hit 60C. I don't get it, I thought this thing was supposed to improve temperatures. I also chipped two corners of my chipset when doin' it. I don't think it'll hurt anything, but if I'm unstable at the same settings I'll know why. This really pisses me off! It seems like I've wasted $23 CAD so far. The light looks cool and does go well with my Asus AX800XL. Hmm, maybe the Iceberq4 is taking the hot air exhausted from my graphics card and putting it straight to the chipset. BTW, I'm using MBM5 to monitor temperatures.

EDIT: I'm using 1.6V through chipset. Idle with Iceberq4 is now 50-52C. With the stock is was 48-50C w/o AS5. I'ma try the stock cooler with AS5 in a minute.

I personally don't think anything is wrong with the stock hs, take it off and put some good TIM on it and that should suffice.

It gets very hot with an arctic cooler fitted and spins up after 45 degrees and gets noisey, thats with AS5.

Yep the fan on it is "winnie"

See if you can't mount an 80mm fan blowing over the area, the nb fan is controlled in bios and also smart guardian. If you can get some cool air blowing towards it you can turn the fan down on the nb so it's not as noticable. IMO if you have good airflow in the case then a passive hs like has been illustrated would work fine too. I've just never had any problems in my case with either of my NF4 and temps. they run around 45c which IMO is normal and under stress get to 50c but I've never had any issues with the temps causing hardware problems.

Hah, do you run your motherboard vertically or horizantally? Because that looks very heavy...

WOW ArcticOC, that's REALLY nice work!!!

just want to make sure y'all are aware that in PC health there is a NB fan setting...

@ stock, the thing wont run 100% till its >50C!!!!

make sure you set it so that it runs 100% at >26C

i assume if you use a new HSF but plug it into the NB fan header, it will "under spin" that fan too

    EDIT:
ive replaced the stock TIM with AS5 and run the fan @ 100% .
    here are my load temps:

    (room temps were 67F)

(the mem is running on a 5/6 so its @ 250)

I`m going on (alco)hollyday tomorrow , so the results must whait a while

And my screencard i currently in RMA.

I used a circlesaw to cut the cooler.

The cooler won`t let you use SLi, but lets you use any known VGA-cooler
My former cooler will do it in SLi (see sig.)
The cooler was quite simple to bulid

Well I'm working on a solution that is easy, cheap, looks cool and hopefully it will cool as well as H2o. I'll post here when all this is confirmed and I have pictures then maybe you will want to duplicate my idea.

Talking I will say more after more testing

Fed up w/ trying all the low profile , so I grabbed an AL heatsink from digi-key (had it for awhile) bent it up to allow my, err I mean her x700 to fit then epoxied (AS) it onto the chip on my wife's future 'puter, temp after 1 hr of occt is 38c (but it's in the cool basement. Closing the case DROPS the temps from 40c (guess the flow sets up better )

Will be bringing it up next week to the 'real world' and see what happens - my target temp is < 45. If needed I can always point an 70-80mm fan there

    Pics if successful

hi, my first post on Xs

i live in austria and here it is very hard to find the vantec iceberg cooler and special stuff that dont sells well today i came across this Revoltec vga cooler. it looks exactly like the iceberg.is vantec and revoltec the same company? or are they workling together?

what do you guys think will it fit on the lanparty ut nf4? anybody running this setup? the mounting holes sould be fine -right? do i need to get aditional screws and nuts for assembling? i remember a post here at xs where somebody said he had to dremel his vantec iceberg, i will look that up later.

thx and sorry for my bad english
