there any pure copper chipset coolers out there that will work when having bot vid cards installed? since they overlap the cooler.

A Vantec Iceberq does the job nicely here, practically the same size as the stock cooler but made of copper. My chipset is currently at 32 degrees @ 1.7v

I would also like to know what kinds of aftermarket chipset cooling (Air) that people are using that perform better than the dfi chipset cooler while still leaving the ist pci-e slot useable with a video card.

Vantec Iceburq or the standard copper cooler both work fine.

That one will work, I've used that one b4. I actually installed a new one last night:

I believe it has the same dimentions as the Vantec Iceberg VGA cooler, but I had to dremel out a bit to avoid an ic on the board.

The Vantec Iceberq works fine, it is one of the most underrated chipset coolers around and it's been around a long while.

Just make sure you get the copper one, the aluminium one isn't too good.

trying to hit 3ghz and beleive my chipset is getting too hot. 60c+

My chipset seems to top out about 52 load while priming, what kind of temps are u guys getting with the Spire and the Vantec coolers on there? Also I've got an X850XT PE the video card sits right on top of the chipset cooler - it's actually touching it. Also, I wonder what kind of CFM the stock DFI chipset cooler is actually pushing.

removing the termal pad and using some termal paste with the original cooler is already helping a lot afaik... dont know if a new heatsink is really needed...

i have replaced the crappy thermal grease with ASC and the temps are around 42C idle with the computer at stock settings. i can only imagine how hot it would get if i were to up the chipset voltage. i would like to improve this temp because i plan strapping my phase change on my system soon. oh and the dfi chipset fan is very loud at 7300rpms.

I haven't got a chance to test my new spire cooler out yet and I don't remember what my Vantec held temps at, but FYI, all the tests on with Venice (on my MSI neo2 plat) was done with the Vantec.

Well I have just tried the Vantec Iceberq and the result was temps about 3-4C higher. Its kinda disappointing because the vantec cooler looks much better than the dfi one. Also, the Iceberq (not iceberq 4 or the spire look alike) needed some alteration to the mounting holes to fit the dfi. Maybe I will try the Iceberq 4 if I can make it out to fry's this weekend.

I didn't have any probs with the Iceberq when I had it. Temps were definately better and no problem with the holes. My new Spire (which is the same as an iceberq4) however, does need some dremel work to get it so it doesn't touch any smd's on the board.

yeah, I wish they would have placed the chipset in a better location....not that I'm a motherboard engineer or anything so theres probably a definitive reason why it's there, but damn it's hard to put a really good cooler on there since it's right with those slots.....I have the MicroCool northpole chipset cooler and this thing is wicked, but once I go DFI I won't be able to use it

I think the chipset placement was a result of DFI's decision to make the RAM slots more accessible by moving them to the top. I had plans of using a swiftech chipset cooler and then I got the board.....

hmmm...how is it more accessible at the top? Seems just fine over on the right where most socket A boards had them IMO
