The other cpu from what i can see its normal Northwood cpu and not sure how good is with overclocking as it’s all a gamble . i would go with CPU2 but again that is just me .

I like the hyperthreading, but that's just so you could fold 2 clients![]()
If you do a lot of worksation type stuff then hyperthreading can be better...
If not, and you just do gaming and such, then hyperthreading isn't really that much use...and can give you grief at times...
The 2.8 non HT is a 1 meg cache, and it's a 90nm process...likely will oc better if you want it to...
Newer technology, better chip so if hyperthreading isn't something you need, then cpu no. 1 is the better of the 2...
Oh yeah...the no. 1 is gonna run hotter and all that, so you'll need to keep in mind that upgraded cooling would be advisable...

Edit : They both have hyper threading....

#2 might not be that bad. Every once in a while a good D1 cpu pops up....
Last summer, I found a SL6WT that did 3.91Ghz on air @ 1.64-1.65 volts. Used it that speed 24/7, until November.
Official ORB bottom feeder.
2.8 Prescott - never owned
2.8 D1 NW - Owned three, one I never tested, one did 3.3ghz, one did 3.75ghz
Only the stupidest humans believe that the dogma of relative filth is a defense.
cpu #1 is a "C0" revision = really bad oc
you should at least try a "D0" or get the northwood![]()
24/7 PC : Biostar Tpower P45, E8400 E0 @ 4.4ghz, 4gig G.SKILL F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ, Asus 8800 Ultra, Corsair HX520w
benching stuff : P5K Premium, DFI LANParty Dk P35-T2RS, XBX2 <3..., few "D9" kit, few Q66 ES / E8400 / Q9550 ES, 8800GT and GTS, OCZ PS600W, Zeus 750w, Phase change, Tuniq, Ultra 120E...
get a newer version of the 2.8 pres
i had 2x 2.8 northwoords, which both stopped at
3.3 / 3.4
the pressey stopped at 3.4/3.5 (air cooling)

Never had grief with HT before.
