    Kingston HyperX PC9600

    Hi,

anyone have this memory? It's rated for 1200MHz, CL 5 5-5-5-15 with 2.3-2.35V... any opinions?

It was just announced today, so it's most likely not even in any shops yet, let alone the hands of our members. But I too am eager to see these sticks in action.

What intriques me most is that they are the fastest sticks on the market, and they still retain and voltage requirement of less than 2.4v, no higher than 5-5-5 timings (like many PC8500 kits), and still use the standard el-cheapo heatspreaders. I'm very impressed. Kingston is doing either one, or both, of the following two things with these sticks:

    1. Super binning D9GKX chips to meet the requirement.

    2. Super binning D9GMH/GKX chips and using a new 8-layer pcb.

I'm quite supprised to see kingston taking on the enthusiast market once more.
Even though I most likely won't be laying hands on these modules, I'm exited too see what they can do. Let alone how the competition will react to kingston being on top

though unlikely, has anyone got hold of any? or is anyone planning on it?

    update

So far it is not looking good. These 9600's will not even post at 1000 with any voltage. 950 is as high as i can go. It may be this striker. when i get my evga back from rma, i will try them in that.

is it just me or do a decent amount of people have trouble with the striker and performance ram?

The 8500C5 and this too. Seems kinda bad on a $400 board.

@ FUGGER. Off Topic Sorry...Are you having SATA/RAID issues with your EVGA Setup?

Back on Topic. This memory runs good at 850 3-3-3-8 1T

Not really IMO since if you're trying to sell a product you don't want to limit it's usefulness to just those with modded boards with forced voltages. You don't need any mods to take Teamgroup or G.Skill to DDR2-1200+ on a 680i and this memory is supposed to be rates higher then those parts.

I have no raid or sata problems. I have used Iram and single SATA drive with the raid.

I have setup the raid on two boards and both perfectly so far.

Your right, and I never said anything contrary to that. However, I was saying Charles' setup should make those sticks fly.

@nugzo, I bet the sticks are great...seems your board is just holding you back from high clocks.

Oh don't get me wrong, it wasn't an attack on you. Rather it was my dislike of any product being junk until it gets 3.0v

Now, these may not respond to voltages...someone said they tried different voltages and still didn't even get up to the rated clock speeds. Could be bad sticks so I will hold off my final judgement.

I knew that which is why I said "it shouldn't need a modded board and forced voltages" which is true...it's rated at 2.3v and should do the rated at that unless they are bad. Could be bad, could be the striker.
