Best x800 XL OCer & Deal

What do you guys think is the best x800 XL for OCin potential and stability? These are the two Ive come across. One is built by ATI XL for 289 other is a powercolor for same price. http://www.buyxg.com/store/item.asp?key=VC-141-118

its all luck and both cards have had good results. The Powercolor is good for a few reasons over the ATI one however.

1.) dual DVI which ATI doesn't have
2.) power connector which ATI doesn't have (though may not mean much)
3.)VIVO which ATI one doesn't have.

If they are same price I would get powercolor. I myself have this card and have had zero issues with it. Many, many others are in the same boat.

I dont believe this POwercolor XL has VIVO. The VIVO version costs 347, this is the non vivo version and costs 289. Is there a diff in OCin potential between the VIVO and non VIVO? 347 is a big jump in price....

probably not. The core is the same and as of late all XL's even powercolor are coming with 2.0ns ram. This isn't holding them back from doing late 500+ however. If you don't need VIVO you should be just fine with the cheaper one as you are right, that is quite the jump in price.

I've got the ATi X800XL. It does 455/555 on a Jetart JASCH1 and OCZ ramsinks. On the stock HSF it did 445/545. It's a pretty decent OCer, I'd say. It will run 465/580+ for benchmarks, but there is quite a bit of artifiacting. Well, nothing visible but ATi Tray Tools shows artifacts above 455/555.

I don't think the lack of power connector hurts them much, if at all. I'll know for sure once my vmods are done.

I'm using the Rosewill X800XL.... my max clocks are 450/570 with an ATI-Silencer. The Rosewill card is usually the cheapest at newegg. I got mine for $281 shipped.
The little air system that could.

Well... I don't think the extra power connector can "hurt", of course....
But I'd just buy the cheapest one If he can do the Powercolor VIVO for $280, go for it!
Throw a Zalman or AC on it and a Vmod to about 1.45v and it'll be all good.

well no the powercolor with vivo and power connector is 275 but its a refurb. THe deal on the 3dconnect for 250 is over with alreayd...Im not sure what to go with now...Suggestions would be helpful as Im a little hesitant to spend 275 on a refurb Im not sure how warranties work on refurbs..

Prices change everyday Pivo...so dont despair, cheapest XL right now...EDIT: Damn price changed again Looks like $283 is still cheapest. I'd go for the Powercolor refurb Xl if you DO want it...or get a really cheap X800 Pro PCI-E which CAN match the XL with higher clocks.

And I'm not 100% sure, but if the XL board/cooler is the generic one from ATI, then the brand really doesnt matter right ???
