any one more than me that cant use over 3.6vdimm ?
if i select 3.7 it ust says when xp would load that a file is corrupted and i need to reinstall but lowering it back to 3.6 works is it a bios issue or a hardware problem?
it sounds like your mem can't hadle that much voltage or a week PSU ...Originally Posted by Snowman89

you have to overclock.

Seems the problem I had earlier was software related, did a clean reinstall with 6.39 and everything is working fine atm.
EDIT: Maybe the wrong thread for this kinda question, but I've heard that NCQ is something you need drivers for, is this true? If so where can I find such drivers.

i've noticed that the vdimm options from 3.2v to 4.0v only apear in the bios when the jumper is set to the 5v power..... but i wanted to use the 3.3v rail of a OCZ powerstream.
is any of the beta bioses capable of showing all the options when 3.3v rail is being used? im asking because i'm waiting for my pci-e gfx to assemble my rig and havent seen the bios menu myself
cheers
this is what I have been wonderint too. When bigtoe first tested the board he said he had his powerstream at 3.5v on the 3.3v rail and was running his ram at 3.4v. Then the boards started shipping and all I hear about is the 5v line having to be used for dimms yet it gets very hot and unstable this way. Tony recommended using the 3.3v line to remedy this.
Can you even raise vdimm on the 3.3v line of this board or are you stuck using the 5v line for anything over 3.2?

I can't use any Vdimm higher than 3.4v. Memtest gives tons of errors almost immediately at any speeds.Originally Posted by Snowman89
Seems to be the latter. What is interesting, I measured with a DMM, the board overvolts by around 0.1v - and gives 3.7 volts instead of 3.6 (set in bios), and doesn't move under load (error load of memtest ). Of course, this fact does nothing fgood or me anyway, as, how I already said, anything over 3.4Vdimm is just plain crashing. Vdimm derived from 3.3v rail didn't give me any more stability over the 5v source at all at the lower Vdimm (3.2 and less) settings.Originally Posted by cantankerous

Apparently the bios bigtoe used was similar to the 250Gb. Raising the +3.3V rail with 2/09 NF4 bios caps the mem around 3.27V. My rail goes to 3.85V or so. I'm hoping they change this.Originally Posted by cantankerous
Tip: When switching from +3.3 VDimm to +5V, reset cmos. Mine wouldn't post until I did so.
mrlobber, here's hoping I don't see your problems. Playing with BH-5 now, hit a limit at 245 with 3.27V so moved to +5V. Only doing 245 at 3.3V now but I'll be working it on up. I would consider RMA'ing your board. I have seen that we should expect problems with +5V, but I have seen more people doing OK until 3.6V or 3.7V, 3.4V sucks!
.........current project, make the 135i faster
so even psu 3.3v rail set at 3.6v still = 3.27v vdimm with 2.09 bios for DFI NF4 ? that ain't good if trueOriginally Posted by mikead_99

1. set to 3.1v or 3.2v
2. set 2-2-2-5
3. no auto on vcore (just like DFI manual said)
4. boot to windows and then shut down
5. unplug power and monitor (u should do this)
6. switch the jumper
7. plug the power n monitor again ( ussualy hang and need 1 restart & everything will be okay )
8. if it hangs ... ussualy because of the monitor plug .. just unplug and plug it again
9. still hangs? unplug/plug vga card ..
10. still hangs??? - happened to me once - clear cmos and leave it like 15 minutes or so... grab a beer or hot tea... take some pictures...
cheers
I am stable up to 260MHz on 3.5V but as soon as it goes over 3.6V, I'm unstable and can't get to windows. But, in the BIOS it shows the voltage increase. And The OCZ Booster wont go higher then 3.68V, but it seems that it is more stable with the OCZ booster, but you cant really put the Booster strategically...
This problem is something DFI should seriously look into...
If bigtoe was using a different bios I Want that bios. I have a powerstream that can do into the 3.7v range on my 3.3v rail. I would love to get 3.5-3.6v on my ram using that instead of the jumper.
So skate2snow you tried the booster and have no issues? There has been no official word on whether the booster worked on the DFI NF4 boards but I Was hoping to hear of some results as I would get a booster if it is more stable.

NCQ managed by 6.39 driver you've installed, to activate/deactivate go to hard drive property in windows.Originally Posted by brassen
I have a new issue.. It seems somewhere along the way of me trying to find a stable overclock (which i still havnt been able to do) ive lost my sound. Trying to open nvmixer it says no nvidia sound hardware detected. In bios the AC97 sound thing is still set to Auto, dont know if theres any other sound related bios settings.. help?
The Booster is NOT recommended by me.... First, you dont have a good gain. and Second, you cannot put it when you are dual channel if it is not modded....
I have the Ultra-D but there seems to be a little problem with my G.Skill PC4400 Le memory. On my MSI Neo4 Platinum I could do 289mhz 2.5-3-3-7 @ 2.75v 15 passes in memtest without errors.
On my DFI I'm getting alot of errors en reboots on the same settings. After setting up the voltage to 3.1v and the timings at 2.5-4-3-7 my systeem is a lot more stable, but I still got errors in memtest. Because TCCD don't need much voltage I am afraid to use 3.2v or higher. With 3.1v my ram is very hot.
The settings on my MSI: HTT: 289, LDT: 3, Mp: 9, ram @ 2.5-3-3-7 2.75v
The settings on my DFI: HTT: 289, LDT: 3, Mp: 9, ram @ 2.5-4-3-7 3.1v
Maybe an different bios will help me.
Anyone how to deal with this? I don't now if this is a bug, but for me it's a big bug.
Please help me.

graham_h,
make sure your card is seated properly.
i had the same problem, ive got an x800xl and a cm stacker, one of the bolts on a dvi connector was touching the case.
This was slightly stopping the card from seating properly, you couldnt tell to the naked eye, but as soon as i removed the bolt it booted up no problem.
