Unhappy Damn! my GSkill LE 1GB kit took a dump...

As expected, NewEgg graciously took it back under the 30 day warranty but they're out of stock and they don't know when they'll receive more so what should I get now?

I'm thinking the new OCZ PC-4800 but the timings are so conservative that I'm not sure...

    TIA

same tccd in the ocz 4800 my friend, its a matter of luck but the ocz supposed to be very good , +- like the gskill, ypu can change the timings, they will do 2.5-3-3-8 at 275-258mhz and even 300mzh 2.5-4-3-8 for my opinion.

so go for it if you ask me .

The LE suppose to be able to hold the timing a little tigher since it is spec'd like that. OCZ might be a slight gamble if you get a good set.

How much voltage were you putting on them when they died and what model where the TCCD chips?

My first set of LA sticks fried under about 3.4-5 volts. For some reason they need that much to do 300MHz in 1T at 2.5-4-3-5. Silly me I forgot to write down what model the TCCD chips were. But anyways I got some new LAs that are TCCD 440 and they do the same speed and timings at 2.7v.

I guess you're right, at lower speed the OCZ should run tighter timings.

Not only that but I can't find them in stock w/o paying taxes. Monarch says 3-4 days.
Funny NewEgg told me they didn't know when the LE was going to be in stock and now the show ETA today...

I wasn't running any extra voltage, only 2.9v. All of a sudden I started to get BSOD's so I run Memtest and the sticks didn't pass a single test, not even at default timings and voltage. Sorry, I didn't pay attention to the model # of the chips.

    wow! those are PC-3200 and can do 300 at CAS2? that's much better than my PC-3500 BH5's, they top at 270 2-2-2-5 @ 3.6v
    At $249 they're expensive for PC-3200 but I'm tempted.

TBH, I didn't even think of RMA'ing them directly to them. I should have done so...

Thank you all for your replies, it gives me something to work with. So many good choices it's getting harder and harder to decide.

oh I see, yeah that was too good to be true. Being TCCD chips how much voltage can they take do you know?

Anything over 3.2 or so, is just overkill or suicide
Most TCCD ram performs best around 2.6-2.8v

    Update:

NewEgg had the GSkill back in stock this morning so I ordered it.
Thanks to some of you I know now to RMA it directly if something happens in the future. Hopefully this one will last longer.

Good to hear, I just ordered some PC-4800 OCZ from Monarch on Tuesday, at like 11 pm, Wednesday morning it shipped out =). So even though it says special order 3-4 days, they may still have some in stock.
