    5500's.

I tore apart a set of Promedia 2.1's and after seeing the 6.5" driver in the sub box as well as its construction.. i'll never buy Klipsch products. Of course i'm being biased however since I havent pulled apart the newer promedias, but the component quality inside (not external looks) is whats most important.

Found this while poking around for info on the 6.5" driver (dunno if i'd call it sub, this is the same as what came out of the 2.1 set I pulled apart)... http://www.realmofexcursion.com/vide...psch/6.5.1.wmv

And this is just for kicks http://www.realmofexcursion.com/vide...totype12.1.wmv

I have the Z-5300. They're good if you want a cheap and simple surround sound setup. I love my Sennhesier 280 Pro headphones. The speakers don't even compare to headphones in quality. However, the speakers are nice from time to time.

I got them for $100, and am happy. There is more bass than anyone needs with them. They are pretty good for movies and music. They are very simple, nothing complicated about them, and they work very well. I havn't had ANY problem with them, and I've had them for over 6 months, and they were used when given to me.

I've always thought Klipsch were supposed to be higher quality than the Logitechs, but that might not be true. All I can say is that they work great, and you're getting FIVE nice speakers plus a beefy subwoofer, so if you can find it cheap, it's a great deal.

Ive had 2 sets of logis, 560's and 680's. Tried the Klipsch's, then went to the 5500's.. Cant beat the connection options. The Klipsch sound a bit better for music, but the logi's do great in movies and games. We all hear things different.

I use Energy speakers in my home theatre.

So how loud are the sub-woofers on these Z-5500. I was planning on getting the Z680 but looks like it's been discontinued.

5500's are the current top of the line for logitech. That should be enough of a hint I think?

The ProMedia's will probably do a tad better than the Logitech's in Music. But since the addition of the Digital output and decoder I think that you'll get the best out of dvd's and games using the Logitech's. Plus the Logitech's is a much better value.

depends on what you like. The 10" woofer on the Z5500 is freakin nuts. It is so nice.

I had the Z-680's, but sold them to get the Z-5500's (not really necessary, but figured what the heck). The Z-5500's are just plain sick playing games, especially paired with the Audigy2 ZS. I don't watch movies on my computer, I use my home theatre setup for that, so no opinion here about movies. Music sounds pretty good with them. Gaming, though, is where they shine.

5500's they are blasting RIGHT NOW, putting out about 200 watts is my guess... I love em.

Can't go wrong with the Logitechs, I thought the 5300e's sounded much better the Klipsch ProMedia Ultra's, they where both on display at best buy.

The 5500's are also much cheaper...

For TRUE digital, you want a video card with coax. out, OR optical out...

    Good luck...

Extremely loud, lol, it has the TEN INCH woofer thing, then the side port (I enjoy putting empty tennis ball cans in the hole in the side, and watching them pop out when the I turn the volume up...

Loud, and amazing, much better than the 680's

So how much is the difference in sound quality from the Z-5300e compared to the Z-5500? Is it worth paying double the price for the Z-5500?

I'd prefer Klipsch's ProMedias for music, but the Logitech's are better for games and movies because of their deeper bass.

    Klipsch makes good speakers..
Logitech is still new to audiophiling.
The significance of buying logitech is that it comes with a decoder
so you do not need to spend extra money buying one.
I personally own klipsch promedia 5.1 and DDTS-100 decoder
