    silent pump advice

I have currently a zalman reserator with a asetek antartica and a mcw50 plugged in the system.

Also have a bix3 waiting for introduction to the rest of the system.

The deal is, it will be very restrictive this way, and i´m sure it will affect my cpu temps, so....

I was thinking of having the reserator for the gpu and possibly a chipset (nf4) NB, and have another pump to power just the cpu and bix3 circuit, at least flow wise it would compensate.

So what silent pump, at least 300l/h should suffice for just the cpu and rad, would u recommend. Or another more powerful with low noise.

I DONT WANNA HEAR IT, I WANT SILENCE

    Some help would be welcome.

    PS:
Or instead a more powerful pump in the reserator?

    Regards,
    Eversor

take off the crappy 3/8" reducers and put some 1/2" barbs on the reserator and it will not be a restriction

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

want silence do the barb change and then free stand two low speed 120mm fans about 4-6" from the reserator and it will get pretty cool and be very silent.

PS ditch the stock pump it SUCKS and put a mcp-350 or 1048 inline

The reserator is probably the less restrictive thing i have, so throwing it away was not in my plans...

MCP350, it has plenty of head, but not much flow. The head pressure compensates right?

They didn't say throw the reserator away, just change the barbs on it to reduce restriction.

    I have a reserator also

don't trash it just mod it.

take the plastic barbs off and replace them with 1/4" NPT 1/2" barbs also replace the barb inside the reserator and might consider removing the pump thats inside the reserator or simply remove it from the output hole. All those mods will help flow.

I have a 1048 inline its very quiet.

I will check those barb things, but my system is of 3/8" tubing.

so switch it out. or switch part of it out.

I used reducers or 3/8" sleeves over the smaller barbs on my blocks, until I swapped them all out to 1/2"

PS that flow indicator sucks once you get the flow going. It makes a nasty tapping noise against the plastic.

    not using the flow indicator

I was messing with my reserator, when some air entered to the circuited, and then i noticed how slowly the bubbles were moving.

Eheim 1250 is also pretty silent...just put some sponge under the pump..and you won't hear it anymore...but you can feel the vibration a lil bit...

    Wow!! that's a loud 350!!!
When I was leak testing my modded 350, I found that the pump was making a buzzing sound.... I put foam under the pump.. still buzzed. It was the exit tube vibrating against the resevoir that sent a feedback vibration to the pump making it "buzz" I Isolated the pump and the tubing going in and out of the pump.... virtually silent pump! My ear had to be aprox. 4" from the pump to hear it at all, the only other noise being a jumped powersupply's fan used to power the pump.

sorry if that was too long!

    intresting thread!

so how does the mcp350 compare to the eheim 1048?

is the eheim more silent and less powerfull then the mcp350?
and is the mcp350 a more powerfull pump and a less silent pump?

or is it the other way around?

or is one perhaps better on both sides then the other?

(my plans allways were to buy that eheim 1048, since i want reliability too, but if that mcp350 really is that good...?)

The MCP350 is really good when you use the mod with it. It is relaitvely silent and pretty small. I believe it rivals a 1250 Eheim. No idea though.

I use two c-systems pumps on my rig, and i am very satisfied with it.
High flow, and no noise at all.
There are about 2-3 degree difference if i use one pump, and the temperature uses longer time to stabilize with one pump.

wowa. for all those concerned stay away from the c systems. they are highly prone to failure and have an all aluminum construction wich leads to massive corrosion and leakage and pump failure problems.

A little O/T here: Anyone know if the MCP350 will operate okay at temps around -30C? Great pump though. Small, silent, great pressure and uses very little power.

Where did u buy that connectors? I mean what kind of stores sell those?
I can't seem to find 1/2" hose G1/4" conectores around here.

BTW, how much does the tygon tubing usually cost?
