    P4C800 Vcore measure points

Hii, correct me if i'm wrong, but i strongly belive the measurepoint(s) should be on the OTHER side of the coils. (from micdoc pictures).

Measure on the coils on the side towards the socket, not towards the edge of the board.

When I solder on the VR's. Do I have them set to no resistance before I turn on, then keep turning them around till I find the desired voltage ? Or do I start with heaps of resistance ?

start the VR with full resistance and then turn down for more volts, unless specified its always high resistance.

Can I adjust the VR's when the computer is on ? Or is it best to do it when it's off, notch by notch ?

You should do it off, notch by notch.

And always take readings with MM.

a much ezier way to do Vcore mod by Me To solder to pin #8 you need good tools and superb soldering skils. You realy dont want to get some solder on those pins ,sure way to screw ur motherboard if you accidently connect few.

    @ Railer

Is it possible to send me a better photo of the mod? And perhaps easier instructions? I´ll like to do this mod but I don´t want to make a mistake.

Im planning on asking ViperJohn to do these mods, he lives around me and i talked to him at ocforums before and hell do it for cheap; he said id have to dial in the mod, but it usually comes pretty close, by dialing in what does he mean exactly? (droop mod)

Banzai | To get the mod perfect you must read vCore at both idle and load while system is running and adjust trimmer.

Mayk-Freak | Just solder one wire from 50K Ohm trimmer to point shown and another wire to trimmer and any ground like mounting hole shown or fan header.

Circaflex | By 'dialing in' he means adjusting for your board and cpu. It is possible on some boards to encode vCore boost under load with vDroop mod. We must adjust and read at both idle and load. When idle is ~ 0.01v higher than load, we adjust under load to match last read idle. This should give us +0.01v under 100% load.

Below is P4P800-SE, this one needed 6.8K Ohm for +0.01v boost.

nah, you can leave it on. I never ran into problems adjusting vcore, vagp, or vdimm. Heck how could you adjust the droop mod with out the system on. If you turned the system off it would be a trick to get it just right.

Vagp mod... Will it increase the PAT handling of the northbridge at low FSB with 4x 512MB of BH-5 ram?

Maybe I can get alittle higher with PAT? Is it worth doing in my case?
General specs in sig. Vdroop (28k) and Vdimm (3.4v) are done.

what is the max Vdimm I can get with the vdimm mod?

I think than will be arround 3.2v for VR= 0 ohm ¿is that correct?

I will use Bh-5 and I won't need using lees than 3.2~3.3v, so my cuestion is: ¿can I use a simple wire to solder pins 4 and 6 directly?

    Thanks for help

The max Vdimm will about 0.2v less than what your 3.3v line is set to.

If you do a Vsence mod to your power supply 3.3v line. Cut the Vsence 3.3v line and add a VR until you get more voltage than you need, ~3.5-3.7max and you should be able to rise the voltage to the Vdimm to what you feel like.
Increase the 3.3v rail to increase the maximum Vdimm, but beware if you go to high, the power supply should cut out if to high (if it has overvolt detection).
Do a search for the power supply Vsence mod wnd you will know what you can do with it.
    Good luck.

My PS is allready modded , and off course I will use vdimm around 3.5v so I will rise 3.3 line up to 3.7 (+,-).

The cuestion is that if it's safe to change the VR for a simple wire, and for the answer of persivore, I think so.

    thanks

    Hey guys!
I wanna do the vcore and vdroop mod to my P4C800-E Deluxe, to be able to give more than just 1.56v to my dothan, and I was wondering how to do it. OK; I see the pictures, but the pins are really tiny!!
Then, I have to connect a 50k vr to the pin the picture says, and the other side of the cable to ground, right? Like the black cable pin of fans?

    Thanks!

Yes, although I think most dothans don't seem to respond all that well to vcore over 1.6v

I did the vcore mod and got very little to no increase in my max stable overclock with a dothan 750 at upto 1.73v

You may have better luck though

Sorry for this question again but i want to be 100% sure that soldering a wire from pin6 to gnd (fan header) also works good ?
GT-one asked that question but it wasn't really answered.

    Thanks

    Pin6?

The picture says pin8. We are talking about the vcore mod here aren't we? Well, either way any ground will do, I normally just look for one close by but the fan header ground will do the job just fine. I used the alternative 'point A' for vcore from the pic on the first page as I don't like soldering to IC's (if I can avoid it).

EDIT: Ahh, I see you mean for vdimm with pin6. Same thing though, you should be able to use any ground.

yep it worked, also did the vdroop mod with 28k resistor.

For some reason i can't boot with 1.7v vcore or higer
(don't know if it's because the droop mod)
i read that the vcore fluctuates 0.15v when going higher than 1.7v on p4c800 is this true ? and is there a fix for this ?

all voltages lower than 1.7v are stable

Hi guys, has anyone got a guide for these mods and a list of what I'll need for each one? I'm on a P4P800E-dlx flashed to SE and I need more volts for my RAM and more speed from the CPU would be nice.

    Thanks.

EDIT: :/ Found them on Malves site, I guess I can use a variable resistor for the Vdimm mod?

Oh yeah, what's a "trimmer"? Just a different name for a resistor?
