Brothers In Arms: Road to Hill 30

s'pose to be out any day now on pc, already saw it for xbox.... s'pose to be AWESOME!!! Just insane, with great AI, graphics and tactical squad based play, the developers make it sound kinda' like Halo mixed with MOHPA ....

It does look like a very nice game. You think my PC (1.7GHz P4, 384MB RAM, MX420) will be able to handle it? Still saving up for my gaming rig.

I've been looking forward to this game for such a long time now. I'm just hoping it's as enjoyable, if not more, than Call of Duty was. :banana4:

Yeah it´s a really nice game. A friend of mine has already bought it and he said it´s the best WW2 game he has ever played.
    I don´t think you could play this game with 1,7ghz, 384MB and a 4Mx420

I picked it up yesterday and tried to install it on my benching rig, but found out it's a DVD-Rom, not CD-Rom... so have to wait until I go to the offfice today

A friend of mine picked this up; we were trying it out over the weekend and came away very disappointed. You can really tell the game was designed for consoles: the levels are miniature and extremely restrictive, the text is huge (the better to read on TVs), and the characters are cliched and forgettable. And really, it's more a puzzle game than a shooter, since every encounter is about finding the one and only side route to flank the enemy. If you were into Full Spectrum Warrior you may want to give it a try, but if you're thinking Call of Duty I'd pass.

But how was teh graphics and sfx??
I thought FSW was a bit dry and boring, hoping for a bit more, here.

This game was extremely dissapointing for me aswell. The silly amateur squad command system that was done quite well in Full Spectrum Warrior was just dogged in this game, and the lack of the crosshair was more annoying than fun and realistic. Even when using the sights on your gun, there was a 50% chance of hitting near your target and a 50% chance of feeling like you're in a sauna with your male friends. The levels are all straightforward, and offer little change in each situation. Find enemies, surpress, flank, assault, make love.

The multiplayer... it was like voluntarily going to school and enjoying it. The maximum of 4 players in a server was like having a maximum of 4 girlfriends in your entire life.

Although this game was silly like Stephen, it had some kewl elements, like the dependance on your squad, the sounds are amazing, and even the name sounds friendly: Brothers In Arms. (That was a joke)

If Call of Duty was like a 1st degree burn, this is a 3rd degree burn and as Ludacris says "you can sweat from a burn from the 3rd degree".

Corsairs : You really think COD blow it out of the water ?

I was looking forward to getting Brothers in Arms but the 2 vs 2 and 4 vs 4 commanding teams of AI in multiplayer got me a bit disappointed.

So it sounds like a very scripted game much like Ubisoft's Splinter Cell series.
I should go over their Montreal studios and give these peeps a swift kick in the pants...they need to wake up and realize scripted games belong in the 90's

Yeah, absolutely CoD blows BiA out of the water. Both games are heavily scripted, but at least in CoD you feel like your shooting skill factors into the outcome. Like batti banter said, in BiA you can be aiming your gun right at an enemy's head and it's basically a crapshoot as to whether you'll register a hit or not. Add in the relentlessly linear levels and it gets frustrating fast. On a few occassions I ran into invisible level barriers where it looked like I could proceed down a road to flank the enemy. The game gives you one choice of how to proceed; you're not given a chance to think for yourself.

charlie: I was disappointed with the gfx and sfx. The textures looked blocky in areas and the characters were somewhat wooden (both in animation and characterization). Once again, I'd chalk this up to console compromises. I'll give the sfx a thumbs down just for the lame, cliched voice work. With so many good-looking games on the horizon next month, I'd pass on this one.

Hey my copy was 34.99 at gamestop. I stopped by my local one after verifying the B&M store was same price as net.

As far as the game I haven't played it much yet. I do play COD:UO and was never expecting this to top it. Honestly, I've grown tired of them being compared. The theme is the same, but the gameplay is different. I was very excited about this game even knowing with my Serious Sam routes and such I would not be putting CoD away. In fact the funny coincidense is I got about 20 minutes to kill and I am going to play CoD now.

It's also a bit of a dissapointment for me, it becomes very boring after time....COD just blows this thing completely out of the water....

Biggest negative is that they said that you have all the freedom in the world....but there are invisible walls....oh how realistic

I like it. The aiming system is cool because it IS realistic. Sure, it's alittle too scripted, but oh well. HL2 wasn't perfect either.

    Mixed feelings here.

Too scripted. I don't like the "supression" icon...it ruins the immersiveness. Every level is the same....supress and flank, supress and flank, supress and flank, sup...you get the idea.

Up sides: Graphics are good. Sound is great. And its a novel approach to a game that is essentially still a shooter, but puts in some RTS flavor.

Last point....drawing the constant comparisons is old and tired. Who cares how much alike or dissimiliar a game is to another. Every game stands on its own in my book. And even if one game is a lot like another I love, it still doesn't mean the game is any good. Too much of what I like and I won't like it any more

ROFLMAO! i didn't like BiA as well. imo, MoHPA > CoDUO >>> BiA

a little off topic, but atm i'm really really into KoToR 2. game was rushed into production and is a really great game, if lucas arts let the game company (obisidian) finish the game instead of rushing it out for xmas, it would be a hall of fame game.
