For the reason I said earlier......
These cores will be largely redundant when San Diego and Venice are released so they are using them up to meet demand in the interim - win win situation all round if you ask me.
BTW the cores probably sat in Penang for nearly half a year before being assembled as the 4000+ CAA2C's were assembled around week 40 of last year.

Oh man, someone confirm this and I'll order one ASAP. Hopefully get here early next week!
From what I've seen in this thread, yeah.

This was brought up in another thread. That website mislabelled those things, someone in another forum said they bought a couple and got something that wasn't a Venice.

Is it possible to enable the "extra" 512 kb L2 cache if that's the case? Or is it not present on the chip?

Eva- do you know why CPU-Z and everest give you different core IDs?

probably either cpuz or everest or both aren't updated to detect this new cpu id

right now stresscpu and prime stable at 2806mhz at 1.6v so could be failed FX-57s

I doubt it, P4 30 Cappers are failed EE's and no one yet has found a way to enable the extra cache so I would'nt count on it.

It can't be a failed FX57 because FX57 should be 0.09 by all accounts, while this buddy is an overstock of 0.13
