    well, lol, you see the stepping on a 3500, then sure, it's a true stepping. Thought fx-55's were clawhammers and 3500's winchesters tho.

    ADA3500DEP4AS is Sledgehammer (SH7-CG) with 512kb L2 cache.
    I have whole box of those, and they are all week 42 of 2004 and with CAA2C code.

    Stripped down FX53's these 3500's are. The cores likely have been stock piled (for the 4000+) at the assembly plant in Penang so they utilised them for the 3500+'s. Buys time till rev E's come out later this month or next.

    Eva: Why do all the CPU-Z's read "Newcastle" but the Everest reads "Clawhammer"??

    These seem to be a new type of CPU, ZipZoomFly now has two types of 130nm 3500+, one is the normal NewCastle:
    ADA3500AWBOX
    and the other is this strange one:
    ADA3500ASBOX
    NewEgg lists the core on this new ADA3500ASBOX chip as Clawhammer although it still has 512KB L2.
    According to AMD's Technical Ref it should be a ClawHammer:
    A=130nm, S= Hammer, 939
    A=130nm, W= Newcastle, 939
    You can tell by looking at the last two digits on the first line of the CPU, if they're AW its a regular NewCastle, if its AS, its one of these new mystery CPU's.

    Yah, I went to Newegg, ZZF, and Monarch and noticed this as well. Also if you notice, it's only the the boxed versions all the OEM versions are still AS. Maybe the rumor is right and these guys are washed up FX-53's that they decided to put into use while they wait for Venice! Let me know, I want to order NOW!

    Sounds like a steal of a deal under $300 for a FX53 (sorta)
    I wish I hadnt already spent way to much on PC parts in the last 3 months.

    What do you guys think about these: ADA3500ASBOX ?

    This should just be the ADA3500DEP4AS with a HSF and 3-year warranty, correct?

    Oh man, someone confirm this and I'll order one ASAP. Hopefully get here early next week!
