Lack of awareness is a big factor (as you have stated), but have you had been going the speed limit .. the entire thing wouldn't have been a big deal haha.
Point is, you're alive, thriving,and with a fast car ... truce! .
What does your stang run in the quarter? I'm curious.

Cars are meant to be driven and then painstakingly cleaned and maintained.
But if u were in the same scenario going 55mph instead of 100mph, things would end up differntly. Speed DOES kill.
I dont get how u cant see that.

Going fast doesnt kill you - its the sudden hitting things that does.
BTW - for what its worth, this is going WAY off topic and we're spending time pandering those who dont like cars, speeding, performance etc - dont feed the trolls and move along.
Some people will never see that they're wrong regardless of how much you try to convince them otherwise.
And just to annoy and irritate those people - i plan on doing an M4 run very soon, to see just how much boost it'll take to hit 170mph

sorry kai, but what car do u drive?
With an Escort RS Cosy and a Lotus Carlton to spoil everything.
I do track and circuit racing since I was 8 but I hardly ever do manic/danger speeds on public streets/roads (only on a very bad day or in emergencies, or... ) or mainly when traveling long distances, like from UK to China on road and I have deadlines to meet. Doing 70mph in summer really kills and you want to get away from the heat ASAP, so when I see clear ways and straights and less humans around, the gas gets called on duty especially if I'm testing a new car on these long journeys. Have done high speeds on those roads though, also in Syria and Saudi highways/deserts I must admit, the last was with a E36 B6 because I hadn't tested it and I was 2 days away from selling it. I wouldn't advise doing or thinking of doing this to anyone else though. But for someone who races quicker than roads can ever do, you don't see the point to without very good reason. I've been involved in and seen enough crashes and accidents to know all sides of it, jumped to save little kids from going under the bonnet many many times randomly at places, including having an uncles son who was one of the best S52 Evo track drivers I know, standing next to me on path of a main road and some guy doing 70mph on a 50mph road lost control when suddenly another car pulled a foot out of a side exit (wrongly - panic) and he came off the road and took my cousin with him, hitting him on the legs and making him fly about 25 meters to smash straight into a wall. Paralyzed my cousy completely, can hardly walk even with metal limbs and pelvic all over now.
Most people can handle speed but when you're on paths which involve the decisions/acts of 10+ more than you, then any one of them erroring can cause destruction for all, the slower, the damn well safer and more time to actually see, respond and many many times maneuver to avoid harm to others. Best drivers I've seen are those, they can avoid dangerous situations around with skill. Damon Hill was one of these, everyone will know he's one of the best drivers on the planet anyway,e specially at high speed but seen him in London Oxford road in a white F355 where he avoided a congested pile on crash while he was speeding at around 45mph on a 30mph road. Very good driving, thinking and reactions with around 40 cars and +100 people around him on both sides.

Supercharged BMW 540i - 155mph for 15 minutes in Wyoming.
Subaru WRX (mine) - 140 mph outside of Las Vegas.
Toyota Supra - 141mph in a quarter mile run
I had my 2002 Sierra Z71 pinned out, which is about 104mph after the oversize tire calculation. Haven't had my DMax past 80 or 90 - it's too big for that.
I've only owned trucks (and a commuter Civic). Next ride is either a CTS(-V) or 'Vette. I'll have to revisit the thread then.

I can't wait until someone here pushes the limits so hard that he blows a tire and flips 15 times.
It may sound sadistic, but should this individual survive the accident, perhaps they would reconsider the next time.
However, probably not. While most intelligent people would count their blessings and never do it again. This idiot would probably brag about how he's got better slicks now and it won't happen again. At which point, further down the road, he wraps his car around the tree and finally kills himself.
I'd be there to give him his darwin award. Lets encourage them to speed on cliff side highways. That way, when their self proclaimed expert asses fly off the cliff to the bottom a hundred feet below, at least we'll be rid of another idiot.
