    Civic *snickers*

Why are kids obsessed with Civics? Sadly, the Japanese Automakers really don't know how to exploit engine power. I don't know how many cars I've driven with empty horsepower... Enough to satisfy a kid who thinks that its all about the HPs.

I like my 3.8. Its only rated at 200HP, but I dare you to compare a 3.1, 3.5, and a 3.8 at 200HP. You'll see the difference. It has low end torque that will rip your typical Japmobile's overhead cam configuration a new ass hole.

Not that a DOHC ain't a great engine. :p The Solstice has a good little EcoTec that has some pretty impressive stats for a 2.2 4C. But there ain't nothing wrong with a good DOHV. Never under estimate an engine just because its a "push rod." :p

But really... I'm a big fan of the LS series engines they use in the Corvette, GTO, and the Grand Prix GXP; LS2 and LS4 respectively if you don't know. One beautifully engineered motor.

VTECs are quality! (Revving at 9000+ RPM!) Jap engines are very tune-able, top notch engines.

I like that Integra (next on my list ), mmmm Type R...

Funny, if you look at the statistics, GM has more 30+ MPG cars than Honda... If anyone actually spend time reading about it, instead of trusting what the competitor says.

But its funny, a cheap little Honda Civic is a nice looking car.... *snickers*

My 3800 Block is an inspiration from a long past engine. It originated in an old Buick Racing engine. Its evolution has brought it to its current, and now upgraded state of a 3.9 Block with some pretty tight controls. (Not my block, but the block in general by GM)

I've driven many different cars, and I am most satisfied with the revs I get out of my 3.8 and the speed. That's why I bought it.

Anyone that knows what they're doing can mod the hell out of any engine. But kids think that adding a new exhaust pipe without matching the headers, or doing ANYTHING to the manifold gives them more power. They sound like they're farting on down the road.

Then they add these huge tall double wings, or singles... without noticing that their car can't possibly go fast enough to need one; its just slowing them down and creating the wrong kind of drag.

Its not just civics, I don't want to be too biased. It goes for Dodge Neons, Chevy Cavaliers, and all of those little cheap cars that kids buy and turn into ricers. They think they know how to squeeze out power. They are accessorizers; when dealing with REAL engine work; they aint got a clue.

I only wish I had the money to spend on my car that way. The real stuff is expensive. The cheap copies all over the market are for people who are minus a clue.

rice bashing lol take a stock viper versus a hopped up crx both at same hp, crx will win, it is lighter, tha's why jap cars don't need torque, but if you need to be snotty even my corolla builds max torque @ 3300rpm which is quite low. even though i did not tune my car or anything like it, i'm sure if properly tuned i could take your car out without too many problems

To get that horsepower you'd need an engine twice as heavy or more than yours. :p Wouldn't be so light anymore with an 8.0 Liter would it now? :p

But you gotta understand the mechanics of an engine. That HP rating is at the cam, not the wheels. If it doesn't have a good drive train, and its cam gets say 300 HP, you won't be getting all of that at the wheels. Chrystler has an 8.0 Liter in their Viper, and it can only barely beat a corvette that had a 5.7. That should tell you right there that there's more to it than Horsepower.

Wish someone would tell Dodge that...

    Flywheel, not the camshaft.

    Yeah, you're right. :p

But still, what I was saying is still a valid point. The actual measurement of a car's power that is most accurate is the Horsepower at the Wheels.
