"05xx" Winchesters - How are they clocking?

Anyone got one of these? I've been offered an 0504 for a nice price on a different forum and was wondering how these are clocking? I have yet to see a single thread on a year 05 winchester overclocking! Google is no help, etc, etc.

Cookie for anyone who can give me an idea . Basically, are they 50/51 copies or are they 42-49 beasts? .

Hello there and welcome to XS!

So far the initial experiences are NOT good. Most of 05 cpus are not that good overclockers I'm afraid. Perhaps that will change... Venice anyone?

I may just wait for the Venice and struggle with my 043x winchester untill then. Seems a shame to have G.Skill LE 437 and not be able to use it properly!

Hopefully a company I emailed will get back to me about me selecting a certain CPU..

If you are given the possibility to select a specific CPU as for a 0448, they seem to offer 2.7GHz aircooled quite easily. Keep in mind that Venice is a bit further down the road and not just out of the door.

Any particular stepping for the 0448? Also, if 0448 isn't available, what are other good ones?

Anakin I LOVE YOU avatar. She is sooo pruuuuuuuuuuuty

    now about the topic .
I have had a week 50 and 51 and both could not break 2.6 ghz
50 topped out at a paltry 2.5 ghz while the 51 steamed on till about 2.6 .
cbbfd 0450 tpfw and cbbid 0451 epaw.

for 0448 the spaw stepping seems to be the best. 0448 Spaw is the golden winchester.

I think this is limited on CBBID, this is one crap cluster. Hopefully they get sold fast (given the rate some people here are buying them ). Then maybe some better ones come.
It is sad I have a chip from last fall that overclocks better than this EPEW I got in February this year. %$#@*&% newegg.

Checking all my old CPUs - not all were CBBID

    CBBID 0451BPCW
    CBBID 0451EPMW
    CBBHD 0450TPGW
    CBBFD 0441RPMW
    CBBHD 0444XPEW
    CBBHD 0447UPEW
    ..and this one CBBFD 0441UPMW

There was one more but I never snapped a pic of the CPU so I'm not sure what the codes were - none of them but the last one broke 2.6 GHz.

Nothing wrong with my CBBID 0451 MPM. It just did 3D and SuperPI stable @ 2.75GHz on air.

Even if your cpu does crap oc'ing can you still get good ram mhz's by just lowering the multi, and have low cpu voltage and stable?

Here is a screeny that shows the voltages. I am going to post my full results in the GA-K8NS Ultra-939 section.
